Hi, I have Navigraph Charts application on a Mac, and on an iPad, and I use both. When I open the app on the ipad, it signs me out on the Mac, and vice versa. This is new behaviour - and very annoying. How can I keep both signed in without bumping the other device off? Both devices are wtih me at home (not different locations).
Hi Navigraph,
Iām encountering a similar issue to @Gimbal. Over the past several weeks I have noticed the need to log in to the Charts app every time I start it ā sometimes even when Iāve left it running.
I use Charts across two different computers, and two different mobile devices.
Is there something I can do on my side to remedy the need to log in on every use?
Thanks,
Mike
Hello! Thanks for posting.
This should not be the case, both of your descriptions sound unexpected.
Do you both have these same issues with Charts Cloud (charts.navigraph.com) too?
Kind Regards,
Malte
Malte,
I donāt often use the Charts website, but I will give it a try and let you know if I see the same issue.
Thanks,
Mike
Thanks for trying! I am trying to rule out platform-specific issues. The desktop app uses slightly different authentication flows compared to the native and web apps.
Let me know how it works out for you!
Kind Regards,
Malte
There were a few days with this issue for me but now mostly working OK.
Last night I couldnāt view the Simbrief OFP in Navigraph Charts on iPad - tapping āShow OFPā just showed a blank page in Charts. But because I start flight plans in Simbrief in Safari (on iPad or on Mac) I just keep the Safari page open to refer to - so itās not a big deal.
Hmm, mostly? Do you use the web app or the desktop app?
Sounds like a separate issue, one that could be resolved by some changes that will be included in the next update!
This is my āworkflowā. I usually login to Windy.com to see what the jetstream is doing. Iāll pick a general route and open Simbrief.com in Safari on Mac to plan it out. Lately Iām flying the 787-10 in MSFS, and just starting to learn the PMDG 737-800.
Once I have generated a flight plan, I will close the browser on Mac, and open Charts on Mac, or on iPad, to import the flight from Simbrief. Then I open MSFS and sit with the iPad to configure the flight. On my iPad I will usually open the Simbrief.com web page in Safari, and then the flight in Navigraph Charts app. I only recently noticed the ability to load the OFP right in the Charts app, which is great, but sometimes it is just blank (like yesterday) - so I just flip back to Safari.
A few weeks ago there seemed to be a hiccup where the service was down for a few hours, and then there were a few days where I had a bit of trouble signing in, but it seemed to have cleared up. I havenāt flown much in the past week, but last night the only hiccup was just the OFP would not load in Charts. Otherwise all good for me. Hope that helps.
I will try to remember close out on Mac before opening on iPad, if thatās part of the issue. Both on my home wifi so should appear as same location account-wise.
Alright, if it happens again - please let me know and try to use the browser instead and see if that works better than the desktop app!
That should not be an issue!
Kind Regard,
Malte
OK. My main use of the Charts app is on iPad (distinct from on Mac, desktop) although when the problem of not loading OFP occurs, it does occur on both - so it seems like a connection issue.
If it occurs I will try the website charts.navigraph.com and report. Given a choice, I do prefer the app to the websiteā¦ as the browser header and address bar take up screen realestate.
Thanks!
Understandable! While you can always put it in full-screen mode, not everyone likes to use the browser. The point is just to check if the same thing occurs there since the code that is running in the background to sign you in is different between the desktop application and the browser.
The browser and iPadOS App should use the same procedure, however!
So Iāve had Charts open on my Mac for a couple of hours, trying to plan a flight from KLAX to CYYZ in the PMDG 737-800. I had generated the flight, but had to take a phone call for workā¦
Iāve come back and sure enough, Charts has signed me out, and it showing the āSign inā page. Charts 8.30.0 on MacOS 13.6.1.
When I click āSign Inā it opens Safari and asked me to Link Charts to my Account, which it didā¦ (but it has been already). Definitely something odd, Charts app seems to lose persistence (which I can understand for a web page, but an app usually retains persistence, part of the advantage of using itā¦). It tends to be this time of day onward in to the evening.
Issues like these more often than not are caused by timing and/or network issues. Sometimes one causes the other! Was this while using the browser or the app?
Malte,
After experimenting with the Charts website since we last spoke, I do not encounter the logout issue when using it. It would seem this issue is limited to the Charts App. I use the macOS, iOS, and Android flavors of the Charts app. I would have to experiment more, but I donāt think the Android app is experiencing this āconstant logoutā issue.
Just to let you know, I started the macOS Charts app ācoldā just now, and was not prompted for a log in. Perhaps someone on your team determined the cause over the past few days?
Thanks,
Mike
Hi again!
No, we have not made any changes that should affect this. Nor have we identified any issues on our side yet, but we are looking into it and trying to reproduce it ourselves.
In the meantime, here is an updated version! It only contains a minor update and we are not sure if it will fix the issue or not, but we want to know if it works better for you guys!
Please report back if you see the same issues with this version.
Kind Regards,
Malte
Malte,
Thanks, I will make sure Iām running the latest release.
So far I am no longer seeing this issue with the macOS app version of Charts.
Can you tell me about how long a user should expect a Charts session to last before being prompted to log in again?
Thanks,
Mike
To avoid confusion - do not run the latest release! Uninstall the app that you currently have and install it from the link that I sent! It is a custom, unreleased version
If you do not use the app for a year, you should be signed out. If you use the app more frequently then that, you should never have to sign in again!
Malte,
I just got prompted for a login using the custom, unreleased version for macOS.
Hopefully it provided your team with some useful debug data.
Thanks,
Mike
Malte,
I was once again prompted for a login using the custom, unreleased version for macOS.
Thanks,
Mike
Hi! We have still not seen anything out of the ordinary on our side yet, unfortunately. Here is yet another version, which will hopefully send us more information:
Thanks for keeping us posted so far!
