Not sure if this is the correct place to post a feedback as I did not find any dedicated support thread. But there seems to be some inaccurancy in the data.
LOWI - Innsbruk is found in Airport.txt for runway 08 to be 0.00 degrees of Decent Angle
But in reality it is 3.77 for the RNP
Now the issue here I bet is due to 08 having both a RNP Z (AR) approach and a RNP Y approach with two different decent angles. Where the (AR) approach has a Decent Angle of 3.60degrees.
I have hightlighted the issue in the file “Airport.txt” in yellow.
Please note that: If this file is not part of Navigraph cycle, but rather part of X-Plane.
Let me know and I wrap this up and forward it to Laminar instead
This is part of the “GNS430” data used by some older addons like the FlightFactor Boeing 757 and 767.
As far as I now, the descent angle is only provided in this file when a navaid-based approach is available, which is the case for runway 26 (two LOC approaches), but not 08. So the data appears correct for this specific format.
The Proc/*.txt files contain all the info required to fly the procedures anyway, Airports.txt mostly serves as a list of airports and runways (and transition altitudes/levels), as well as a source of ILS data (although because several airports feature more than one ILS per runway, it’s not a comprehensive source for the latter purpose).
The “ILS” is only applied if it’s present yes. But the GS/Descent Angle should be there. Example in case of ENAL, which is RNP precicion based approach. The angle is set in this file. So how come it is not set for other airport which have the same approach?
Hi,
I haven’t really understood the issue, sorry. This information in the airport file is only informative and will normally not used and when then only to display it somewhere.
Also this dataset is very old (Tim wrote it), I’m not sure if this field will even used somewhere.
So, what doesn’t work in which sim and in which addon now, excluded that this value in the file is zero? Sorry, when I have overread the core issue now …
Well I have not encountered any partically issues yet, kinda don’t know which airplane would rely on this file to be frank. But I just thought it had an practical use since it was already there. For me I noticed this when I was making my program, a tool to get certain data based on an ICAO code. I found this file to be useful for my little project. It was then I noticed that these 0.00 values are present both for ILS frequencies (which again would be not available for RNP) and for GS or Decent Angle, except this would however be shown for an RNP… See this example from ENDU where both LOC approach and RNP have Decent Angle, but again not showing in this file. Now I can manually edit this, but there is a lot to go through
Hi again,
I have checked our source to this example and we have the vertical angle with -3.50 degrees. Here from our DFDv2 dataset which we offer for 3rd party developers.
So, it looks more a implementation issue or any implementation restriction in the dataset. I´m honest, I haven´t look deeper into it but it seems that this information will not be really used from the addons which use this dataset.
In other words, when an addon needs this values, we offer it - or the addon developer uses our DFDv2 sqlite database as default. But the data are available as you see …
