so I downloaded the VIDP scenary from XP gateway and when trying to import a flight plan into the default FMC using airrac 2405 it says RW29R does not exist when I am on RW29R
Hi,
I assume that this is an XP12 issue rather a navdata issue. As you wrote, the runways are correct and you can also set the a/c to ie. 29R … but when you open the FMC (don´t need to load anything) you see only the default airport runways from X-Plane and not the correct one from the VIDP scenery.
So, my assumption is, that the a/c FMC only looks in the default airport file and don´t use any 3rd party scenery files.
Here what I mean - that´s what you have in the default apt.dat
file (which seems to be used by the FMC):
1 775 0 0 VIDP Indira Gandhi Int

1302 country IND INDIA

… and here, what you have in the 3rd party scenery file - these runways are correct but it seems, they will not be regocnised/used by X-Plane:

We don´t offer any runway-information so, thats not what we have in our hands - it seems an X-Plane issue. Sorry.
Cheers,
Richard
I am not sure you understand my issue. when trying to load into a flight plan I download from simbrief I get this error. Previously I didnt. the runways in the FMC are labelled as runway 29 and 29L and 11R and 11 instead of 29R and 29L and 11R and 11L which seems to be confusing the FMC as its unable to detect that Runway 29 is runway 29R.
Yes, I have understood you correctly …
The problem is, that the default airport file in X-Plane (which we don´t provide) doesn´t offer 29R, only 29. It seems that the FMC only looks on the default airport file and not on any 3rd party airport-file which you have downloaded from the gateway.
We don´t offer any runway-information in X-Plane therefore it´s an X-Plane issue rather a navdata issue. The Simbrief flightplan is correct with 29R but X-Plane doesn´t (for some reasons) recognize it.
Try to enter VIDP manually in the FMC and look on the runway-page (without loading any flightplan) - you will see following (even when you have installed the scenery from XP-gateway):
You see, there is no 29R available and therefore when you load a flightplan (independent from which flight planner) you will get the error message.
Cheers,
Richard
But the simbrief chose runway 29R and when I tried loading it that’s the error I got and I’m not understanding how am I supposed to use a flight plan to or from vidp if 29R doesn’t exist according to your navigraph thing
Yes, and thats correct because we offer real-world data … the default airport data in X-Plane are outdated and it looks that the FMC doesn´t look on 3rd party sceneries in X-Plane even when you have installed the correct runway-layout.
We offer 29R because the runway exists in RL but X-Plane (as I have shown you in the screenshots before), doesn´t recognize the 3rd party scenery correctly - whatever reason that is. We don´t offer runway-information in X-Plane therefore this information is not from us - it´s a X-Plane issue somewhere.
Cheers,
Richard
So I’m not sure now what to do everytime simbrief gives me runway 29R or 11L what am I supposed to do
Please report this issue to X-Plane … it´s an X-Plane issue not a navdata or Simbrief one.
Thank you,
Richard
Actually, no need to report this.
If you check the airport page for VIDP on the X-Plane scenery gateway, you can see that a new scenery (which includes the new runways) has already been submitted and approved: X-Plane Scenery Gateway
If you go through the history you can see that the scenery currently in X-Plane was last modified in 2017. A new scenery was submitted in 2024, and is approved as of May 3rd. So it will be included in a future update of X-Plane automatically.
For the time being, you’ll have to enter the flight plan manually, and use runway 29. You won’t be able to load a fligthplan that references 29R.
I am using that scenary and it is the one giving me issues
you might have downloaded and installed the scenery, but that means you installed it as an add-on scenery. It is not part of the default distribution that comes with X-Plane. The FMS only sees the default scenery that comes with X-Plane, and that currently still has the old scenery from 2017.
so how do I make it the default one?
So, you must wait till the update, workaround also still written here:
Cheers
Richard
