Simlink causing stutters

Hi, For the last couple of days my SIM has been suffering from quite bad stutters which I’ve tracked down to simlink. I’ve tried all combinations (dx 12/12, hags on/off etc) but only suspending simlink stops the stutters.
Anyone else seeing this?

In order for us to assist please provide information at FAQ - Information requested when posting an issue - #3.

Make sure you have the latest version of Simlink and aircraft/simulator

Cheers

Windows 11, msfs 2020,
Interestingly stutters only when using simlink on airport charts ie sids, apt, stars etc. Is fine when using vfr/ifr charts.

getting this too , Only started happening recently , so just deleted Simlink and in MSFS the sim runs smooth

Reinstalling simlink causes the stutters to return, so I have not installed it again until there is a fix

Hello,

Could you please provide us with details of your system hardware configuration and internet speed?

Also, please send us the Simlink log file located at %APPDATA%/Navigraph/Simlink/logs folder.

Feel free to let us know about the issue.

I am at work at the moment , so cannot send the log file , but can do that later.
Question : Will a log file exist if i have deleted simlink???

system specs are as follows:

Internet speed : Wireless 900mbps
12600K CPU
RTX 4080
32 GB 3600 RAM DDR 4
1000 W PSU
Z690 Mobo with MSFS on a separate NVME. SSD
Windows 11 on separate NVME

To be honest I think it could be linked to SU15 as I have not had this issue and it was working fine prior to MSFS Sim Update 15

Hi,

Sometimes the system gets slow, which can cause stuttering in MSFS. You can try using low graphics settings in MSFS with Simlink to see if it helps.

Please let us know if changing the graphics settings resolves the issue.

No It doesn’t help , Sometimes Microsoft servers play up and slow down but changing the in game settings does not reduce stutters sufficiently for an acceptable playing experience , unless you are playing totally in a vanilla state with no add -ons , that ironically includes Navigraph.

It is a shame as I have extensively tried exhaustive steps to eliminate various add ons and Simlink is definitley causing this , just like FSUIPC was causing issues with some users as they stated on the MSFS forums that they did not update to the latest version of FSUIPC , once they did , it was all fine - I’m using this as an example as it runs in the background like simlink but I do not use it , unlike simlink… (oh and in case you are wondering I have reinstalled the latest simlink download from this site).

It looks like an in game issue rather than simlink , but with the SU15 update its not playing nicely with simlink , so i will have to wait till MSFS 2024 is out if you cannot replicate this.

Its still usable , but the stutters really affect the experience and immersion and in my case it is being caused by Simlink - using the in game tracker when navigating/Taxiing around a large airport when flying in Vatsim is really a great feature that I can still use , but I will have to reinstall it whilst I’m in game and then uninstall for general flight and landings , which isn’t very practical.

Thanks Vishal ,

Much appreciated for all your help and the remote session , its seems the stutters are largely fixed now after you removed the issue with FSX and the registry entry fix you applied to MSFS.

Please mark this as resolved and thanks very much for all your help

David

Hello,

If you’re still experiencing stuttering issues in MSFS, please check the following points:

  1. Make sure you haven’t installed Simlink Plugins for other flight simulators like FSX, P3D, or XPlane in the same directory as MSFS.
  2. MSFS doesn’t require Simlink Plugins, so ensure that no Simlink plugins are using the MSFS installation path.
  3. If you have FSX installed, verify that the FSX path is correct in the Simlink Plugins settings.
  4. If the FSX path is pointing to the MSFS folder, check the OS Windows Registry for the FSX setup path at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\10.0.
  5. Confirm that the MSFS Data folder does not contain any Simlink Plugin libraries.
  6. That’s it!
