Simbrief not responding - very long loading times, errors

Hi folks,
I’m trying to generate a new flight but simbrief isn’t working …

  • tried to open and login to the simbrief page with 3 different browsers - no success
  • after entering login data, simbrief version 0.00.00 showing at the login-status circle
  • after 10 minutes got a successful login, but flight planning is a mess; when entering data getting timeout errors.

Seems your servers are under heavy load or your internet bandwidth is suffering.

Whats wrong?

Greetings from Germany,
Denis

Still the same here. No chance to get access. Internet connection is OK, no problems with other websites.

Today again … loading, loading, loading … seems it get’s worser every week:

Hello! Thanks for the feedback.

We are unable to reproduce this issue. Interestingly, you both seem to be from Germany! What ISP are you using?

Also - could you try changing your DNS servers? If your ISP is indeed having trouble connecting to the (Canadian) SimBrief servers, changing the nameservers could help!

Kind Regards,
Malte

Update: We have identified the issue! Deutsche Telekom’s DNS servers are indeed slow, and it takes hundreds of seconds for them to even find the SimBrief servers.

Please change DNS servers or wait for them to resolve the issues. If you have another ISP, please let us know!

Kind Regards,
Malte

Hi Malte,
I tried this and changed to cloudflare 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1 with same results in extreme lagging on your servers, no matter which browser I use (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), also cleared cache and restarted my router after every change … its annoying, even if I want to plan a flight in a “hurry up” situation

Greetings,
Denis

Our servers are responding quickly in this case. Something else is happening in your connection, and it is hard for us to determine exactly what it could be.

If you are using a windows PC, please follow these steps:

  1. Press Win + R
  2. Type cmd and press enter
  3. In the window that opens, type tracert dispatch.simbrief.com
  4. Wait for the command to complete and post the result, either by copying it or taking a screenshot

Kind Regards,
Malte

The routing after german telekokm (DTAG) is OK, the breakdown occurs after them … not so cool … but changing my DNS server won’t solve this.

Kind regards,
Denis

Changed my DNS to quad9, with no changes in tracert output.

I don’t know what else to try …

That’s interesting! Your output does not directly indicate any issues. As far as I can tell, according to that trace, SimBrief responded within around 600 milliseconds (pretty good for a “transatlantic flight” right?). Some hops timing out is normal, the tracing attempts are blocked for different reasons such as firewalls. It is unfortunate that we don’t get a complete route though!

Unfortunately, if changing the DNS does not help, I am out of advice. The SimBrief servers are responding quickly, so something is going on between you and the server that we cannot diagnose or affect. Perhaps you could try opening the browser developer tools to see the network requests and track what is taking so long? According to your trace output, requests should still be within seconds at max.

I’m sorry that we can’t provide more detailed instructions. This is not a SimBrief or Navigraph issue so that is unfortunately the extent that I am able to help

Kind Regards,
Malte
