Navigraph NavData and the MSFS flight planner

Hi all! My first post here! In MSFS I only used the default NavData and the default flight planner to set-up my flights.

I recently got the Fenix A320 and I am slowly learning and transitioning. I want to update the NavData of the Fenix, but as I understand I need to install NavData for MSFS which Fenix will use.

So my question is, with Navigraph NavData installed, can I still use the default flight planner without issues? Any other things to worry about?

Please, I know you probably refer me to Simbrief etc. but for now I want to stick to the default planner and slowy make my way.

Hi Erik,
First of all welcome here at Navigraph. Please don’t hesitate to contact us, whenever something is unclear or when you have the feeling you need help now. We are here to support as good as we can and here are also a lot of helpful user, so it’s a great Navigraph community here, and we are very thankful for that.

To you specific question/posting:
The answer is simple yes, the MSFS in-game flightplanner is fully usable too with our data installed. The “only” difference are the data providers …

When you use the Fenix, it’s highly recommended that you also update the MSFS. The reason is, due the different data provider it can be possible that waypoints, procedures, … are not the same and to avoid a discrepance here, you should always look that all datasets for the sim and the addons are from the same data provider. Fenix uses the Jeppesen data, so you should also install the MSFS with Jeppesen data.

Jeppesen is the largest data provider with the highest amount of supported worldwide airports. Via our Navigraph Hub, you can install the data for MSFS itself and the other addons very easily and fast and you can be sure, that all is in sync. Means, planning a flight via the MSFS in-game flightplanner can 100% used in the Fenix A320 because the data source behind is 100% identically.

Long story short:
Try it … You can go back to the default data, when you uninstall our data. We don’t delete anything on your system, we only “disable” the stock data. Try it and look if our data, our packages are working for you … I guess, its worth to try.

Let us know, when you need any more help, when you have any additional question.

In the meantime, enjoy your weekend and the great MSFS

Cheers
Richard

Hi Richard, many thanks with your response! It is clear and I give it a try using a 1 month subscription  If all is well I might consider the yearly one!

Note that the Fenix does not use the default MSFS database, so you want to also update the Fenix database itself. This is done in the second tab (Microsoft Flight Simulator — Installed Outside Simulator on the left, below the main tab).

Updating the default MSFS database will give you updated data in all default aircraft as well as many third party aircraft that use said database as well (in addition to keeping everything in sync between the Fenix and the rest of the sim, including updated navaids etc. as Richard already mentioned).

Note that while the built-in MSFS Flight Planner will auto-populate the flight plan in some default aircraft’s avionics, this will not work in the Fenix (this would not be realistic way of doing it for real pilots). Instead, you can use the Fenix’s Simbrief integration to import a flight plan via “INIT REQUEST” in the MCDU:

Note that the place where you enter your simbrief id has changed in the latest version of the Fenix (was in the Fenix standalone app, is now done via the EFB or the MCDU instead); oddly I could not find an up to date video in :uk: so here’s one in :de::

If you want to use the built-in MSFS air traffic control, you can import your simbrief flight plan into the sim’s flight planner using a .pln file:

Tim
