MSFS 2020 In-Game Charts (Moving Maps)

I’ve recently installed the in-game Panel. but the moving map doesn’t work for me. Even if the little icon is highlighted to track my aircraft. the map still does not show my current location/ position.

PS. i already tried restarting simlink many times even reinstalled it… so please help

Hi,

Could you post a screenshot of how your panel looks when the moving maps icon is highlighted?

I’m having the same issue. When pressing the “Enable Moving Maps” icon, it just says “Could not connect to simulator”

I had this but then I closed and reopened simlink and it started working fine

Think I might have figured it out. I had uninstalled SimLink as I thought it was only for FSX, P3D and X-Plane… Trying again now

That solved my problem  Had to wait a while (did get another “Could not connect…”), but it started working shortly after.

Thanks guys. The OP issue is different however, he doesn’t get the ”couldn’t connect” message, and it seems to be partially connected. We’re investigating.

Cheers,

Stephen

Seems to be some stability issues with the SimConnect client. Zoomed out the map before an approach to EGPK, and the connection was lost. Restarted SimConnect, and it took around 2 minutes before I had the moving map working again.

I’m able to get the panel to connect and show position on the map. The problem I’m experiencing is that once this happens, ALL my controls freeze and I have no control over the sim. Same goes for VR head tracking. The plane will continue to fly but uncontrolled.

I have exactly the same problem as the OP. Simlink (latest version) says that it’s running/connected and I also get the “Broadcasted flight data to server sucessfully” message in the Simlink Status window. Navigraph charts app moving maps are working fine, just not the in-game maps. I am not trying to run them concurrently, just using the Charts app to see if Simlink is working. I am NOT getting the “Could not connect to the simulator” message.
Please let me know if you find a resolution to this issue. I’m pulling my hair out.

I have installed the new app. It seems to work but I do not get moving maps to work. I get a message that no flight simulator can be found. I can live with that shortcoming but what makes the app uninteresting is that it requires login every time. It’s no go for me.

Hi,

We are working on possible solutions to the requirement to login each session.

For the moving maps - if you ARE getting the message “could not connect to simulator” then it is actually different than the others in this thread. In this case it sounds like your don’t have Navigraph Simlink installed, which it needs for moving maps. Download Simlink from Navigraph

Hi guys,

Please see picture.

I have done the whole uninstall / download new simlink methodology but I can’t get moving maps to work in sim with this amazing new feature

Any ideas?
Thanks
Josh

We have identified the problem (moving maps toggle in top bar does activate, no error message about “can’t connect”, but still no moving maps symbol on charts) and are working on a fix.

Thanks for the replay Steven,

I open the normal app on my tablet and the symbol is there and even on the web app on pc, so simlink is very much working well.

Here’s to a quick turn around on this issue.
Having the charts in sim has been an absolute game changer  Well done!!

Hi, just another thought… it would be nice to have a scroll bar at the bottom where the pinned charts are, whenever the window is resized to a smaller window…

But thanks for the larger +/- buttons that can resize the entire U/I of the toolbar…

For example… when the window is resized to a smaller one… it would be nice to have a scroll bar to have access to the other pinned charts…

LOL sorry for being a nag… just helping to make the toolbar ultimately user friendly … again i appreciate the work…and much thanks for making it possible to copy the the access code for ease of signing into the chart… thanks! …
