Connecting FMS Data to x-plane 12

Please only mention one issue per topic so that others can easily see what has been reported

What I expected to happen.

Clarify your expectations. It’s easier to understand the anticipated
behavior and determine whether it’s truly a bug or a usability issue that
needs to be reviewed.

What actually happened

Please describe what happened in a way that enables us to find the problem
without follow-up questions. For instance, saying “the charts do not work”
or “login is broken” doesn’t help. To the extent that it is possible, please provide clear steps to reproduce the
problem. Screenshots and error messages are helpful and encouraged!

I am trying to get the FMS data mgr to be added to X-plane 12. For some reason it does not recognize any of the x-plane 12 files that need to be accessed.

Hi…,

Welcome.

  • Please advise what steps you have taken to update your X-Plane 12 Navigation Data?

  • In FMS Data Manager please provide screenshot of X-Plane 12 path and confirm this is the folder for your X-Plane.exe using Guide to posting Screenshots

  • Are you running the stable release version of X-plane 12?

  • Do you have more than one copy of X-Plane 12?

  • In FMS Data Manager Settings page please provide screenshot of X-Plane 12 path and confirm this is the folder for your X-Plane.exe using Guide to posting Screenshots

  • Please upload latest log file from c:\ProgramData\Navigraph\FMSClient\logs

Cheers
Ian

I installed x Plane 12, installed Navigraph FMS Data Manager and tried to have the program search for x-plane 12, but no luck.

screen shot of x-plane 12
path

X=Plane release 12.0.8-rc-3

I believe I only have 1 copy of X-Plane 12, but there could be a question of whether it have been installed correctly.

In FMS Data Mgr, here is screen shot of X-Plane 12 path

latest log file from c:\ProgramData\Navigraph\FMSClient\logs
I do not know how to find this. Can you advise?

Thanks,

Peter

But Peter, on the last screenshot I don’t see the X-Plane12.app … only the installation-app.

I believe you have selected the wrong path.

Richard

That’s why I think X-Plane12 may not be installed correctly. This is what comes up when I click on it- It says it’s installed, but I don’t know where. From this page it just allows me to run X-Plane 12

When I do try to locate the app, it produced this error message-

Thanks,

Peter

Yes, Peter … you should install X-Plane 12 correctly first, before you start with other things. Sorry for that.

Let us, know when it’s done and you still have any issue.

Cheers
Richard

I made some adjustments, but still not sure if it’s in the right place. How do I know for sure?

Can you run X-Plane 12, and fly it?

Stephen

I now have it installed here and it will run.
Newt step would be to see if I can get FMS Data Manager to recognize X-Plane 12. Does the FMS Data Manager have to be installed in the same directory as X-Plane12?

Peter

Hi,

No you should not install FMS Data Manager into the X-Plane folder, that will cause problems for sure.

Regards,

Stephen

I did not mean the X-Plane12 folder, I meant the same directory. If not, where should it be installed?

Thanks,

Peter

Hello,

You don’t have to install FMS Data Manager in the X-Plane 12 path. Simply install it in the Application folder. To install AIRAC data from the FMS Data Manager, please refer to the instructions provided in this link: FMS Data Manager Mac book - #9 by vishalahir.

After I set the path to X-Plane 12, I save and recanted from the add ones mappings and per this image it shows nothing detected.

Please advise what to do.

Thanks,

Peter

I created a flight plan in simbrief and I am unable to download that plan into x-plane/output/FMSplans so that I am able to access and enter the plan into the FMS. Also, when I scan for addons in the FMS Data Manager I get nothing.

If I cannot get some help to make all this work, then I might as well cancel my subscription.

Help!

Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter,

I hope this message finds you well. I have a solution for the issue you are currently facing.

To start, for XPlane 12, please select the location of your XPlane12.app file by following the instructions provided in this link FMS Data Manager Mac book - #9 by vishalahir. Once you have set the correct path in the FMS Datamanager, you can scan the addons and install them.

Next, if you want to connect your running flight in XPlane 12 with Flight Plan loaded into Navigraph Charts, you will need to install the Simlink application by using this link https://download.navigraph.com/software/simlink/osx/Navigraph+Simlink.dmg and then install the Simlink Plugins into X-Plane 12 by following the instructions provided in this link FAQ - Simlink Install and Systray.

Once you have correctly configured the Simlink Plugins, you can use the Moving Map functionality with the Navigraph Charts.

If you encounter any issues with Navigraph Products, please do not hesitate to inform us.
