If I click the “Now” button on the weather radar, it moves the red marker way before or way after the time-line and shows me nothing on radar, despite there being actual real life weather activity in the area. Currently, it is 11:00AM Zulu time at the time of starting this post and this is what I see when clicking “Now” - Screenshot by Lightshot … If I click the left arrow ‘step-back’ it moves the time to 08:50 Zulu and I see this on the radar - Screenshot by Lightshot … notice now there is rain indicating on the west coast of Nicaragua. This is what AccuWeather shows as the current weather radar in the same area - Screenshot by Lightshot
I have turned off weather radar and turned it back on and there is no change in time, and no change in it showing me the correct depiction of actual current radar screen with actual weather. It keeps going back to the empty radar screen with the time being about 4 or 5 hours behind the actual time. Even 08:50 Zulu on the app shows it as “Now +140 min” meaning the Navigraph thinks it is 06:10 Zulu, or 4 hours and 50 minutes behind current time.
Just a thought, but I don’t fly using the real current time - I fly based off a schedule so the sim is set to the schedule time. Would this be the cause of this? And if so, am I seeing live current weather, or am I seeing what the weather was at that simulator time from the last occurrence of that time frame?
Hello! Welcome to our forum, and sorry for the late reply. Your post somehow slipped through unnoticed!
Thank you for the report! Unfortunately, I am not able to reproduce this issue myself. We shall investigate, but parts of the team are still on vacation, so there may be delays!
The problem seems to be that the time on Navigraoh wants it to be real world Zulu time, but if you set the simulator to a time more or less than a few hours off the current real Zulu time, then Navigraph seems to not know what time it is and shows a blank time bar on the slider and no weather on the map (hitting left or right arrows on the slider move it to the closest time frame based on current real world Zulu time and shows weather again).
Navigraph Charts Desktop seems to not be able to differentiate between real world Zulu time and simulator Zulu time leading to “blank” times and no weather showing on the map.
What I am trying to achieve, and what I would like to see from Navigraph weather radars and other weather filters, is the ability to have current real world weather shown but not impacted by simulator time. It seems that Navigraph wants to match real world Zulu time with simulator Zulu time and if they are off more than a few hours, then it does not show correctly.
Thanks for the update! My first guess is that it is somehow related to the timezone.
I can assure you that there is no connection between the simulator’s time and this weather feature—it is synced to your system’s time. That’s what the code is doing, at least, not accounting for any black magic… Were you able to fix the issue by setting the simulator time to real-time?
We’ll investigate further as soon as we have available resources! Some updates are coming to this specific area of the app in the next version, so it might already be solved, but I can’t reproduce the issue in any version at the moment, so we will have to dig deeper.
I’m also having this same problem. Currently it is 11:30 Zulu but if I click the “Now” button for the Radar layer it is stuck on 10:40 Zulu. Sometimes if I hit the “Play” button to see the timelapse and then click the “Now” button it will update the radar to the current Zulu time. I also have experienced where it shows no weather results at all unless I play the timeline. This seems to happen after having the weather radar layer on for a bit. It isn’t updating in any sort of interval nor can I seem to force refresh it to sync to the current time.
In today’s update to 8.36.0, we added a bunch of improvements to the weather feature! As mentioned in my latest post, there is a high chance that this will fix the issue.
