VFR Charts

Contrasting CDJung’s beseeching, I would like to patiently pose a question regarding this upcoming potential feature:

Will we be able to “draw” put a flight plan on these charts? The ability to type out a route is handy, but the ability to use a mouse to pinpoint locations (especially custom points/GPS coordinates) one by one into a point-to-point flight plan would be a real game changer. Especially when fuel / weight calculations can also be brought into the mix.

People have been looking for a sim-equivalent to Foreflight for years. And whilst Forefloght can be used to a degree in the sim, it would be spectacular if VFR features could be brought to Navigraph, even if for a premium. There’s definitely a market for it and I’m looking forward to what Navigraph proposes!

Also, for those a bit impatient: a quick reminder that if you wanted IFR Jeppesen plates for the whole world for simming in a one-stop shop equivalent to Navigraph: Foreflight offers this… for $2,500+ a year… (quite the contrast to Navigraph’s €80/yr offer)

Very glad to hear this! Could you clarify when Q2 is?

VFR-Chart are amazing news, as those are very difficult to find.

One question: Which design will the charts replicate? (e.g. Jeppesen, US, DFS)

I‘m really looking forward to see those in the virtual cockpit.

While I’m excited to see the implementation of VFR (US Sectional Charts) functionality in Navigraph. I have been augmenting my Navigraph subscription with Volanta which includes a US Sectional Chart overlay. I highly recommend using Volanta with your Navigraph subscription. Along with the US Section charts, Valanta (I’m currently using the free version) is a fantastic flight “logbook” and includes landing data (fpm, air speed, wind data, g-force).

Hi,

I am writing to you, Navigraph, as a concerned customer for over two years now I believe. According to the forums the last update on here regarding VFR Map functionality was almost a year ago when we were told this is in development.

I fly almost entirely in VFR using flight simulation to support my real world flying which is not IFR. As a result I am pretty much paying for and waiting for this feature and have paid for an entire year essentially with no return on my investment in your product. This feature to me is essential and as a result I am having to pay to use others products to do this.

I now need to make a decision whether to pull my funding of your product since the functionality I am waiting for does not look like it is enough of a priority to your company.

So please, as your customer I insist on a detailed update on the status of this feature as I am truly sick of waiting and sick of silence on the matter. Please can you advise when this feature will be provided or at the very least when you aim to have it.

I like your product offering but sadly with no VFR map functionality it is proving an expensive luxury when all I can do is look at charts. I can already do that with a Jeppesen subscription but what I lack is an in game VFR map (I fly in VR).

Hi Andrew,

Welcome.

I have moved you post to this thread. Please see Stephen’s response above at VFR Charts - #60 by stephen

Hi, I am also pretty bummed about the lack of VFR charts. I literally yesterday purchased an annual subscription and didn’t even contemplate that VFR charts weren’t offered. I have been searching all over thinking that it was user error that I couldn’t find them.

I will consider the investment a lesson in doing my homework and will hope for a pleasant surprise if I can salvage some of the money before the subscription is up.

I as well have been a navigraph user since 2019-- and am heavily disappointed this feature has not been implemented years later. If a large number of users fly VFR how is it possible there is not VFR sectionals yet? Insane.

Hi…,

Welcome.

The current Charts offering is well defined at Navigraph Charts

A quick scan on “VFR” in this forum shows that VFR charts are planned for the next major release of Charts. Please see VFR Charts - #60 by stephen.

I had seen the Stephen response on the matter. I firmly believe that at some point we will have better and more detailed charts.
I am kindly requesting into the new charts to be included TS Segments data as it is in the freeware SkyVector website. This can be a very helpful tool for IFR flight planning and for us, IFR virtual pilots, to not have to use 2-3 different apps so we can create a flight plan for IFR flight.
Another helpful tool will be the inclusion of NAT’s and PACOTS in it, even if you manage to find a way to include the Middle Eastern and Domestic FLEX Australian tracks will be awesome.
I realize it takes time. This is just a suggestion from fellow IFR virtual pilot.
When I create a flight plan I make the initial routing in SkyVector, because it provides all of this data. Also it provides Thunderstorm Segments and winds data. Weather is something important in flight simulation. So I hope we get soon any type of those in our charts.

Looking forward to var charts, other options from the likes of ForeFlight and garmin are just too expensive to justify.

Any update?

Definitely need VFR Sectional charts… I only fly in VR and other offerings are not enough.

Thanks

Would it be possible to confirm if with all this new stuff coming with new menus and all changes is VFR included? After years of paying and waiting I hope VFR charts will be included soon.
I will wait for Q2 for this to happen. Hope to see this VFR charts coming soon!
¿Are they included in this new Q2 release?
Thanks

Hi,

Yes I can confirm that VFR charts are part of the first release. The team is working very hard for beta testing to start during Q2.

Regards,

Stephen

This new release sounds exciting.

When do you think you will be able to share what features will be part of the first release? I’m particularly interested in the new IFR features that you alluded to in your initial post.

Hi,

We should be able to share more details on our future roadmap when the beta is up and running.

Stephen

Will this be a public beta? If not how long do you envision the beta period to last, aka when can your customers actually get their hands on this.

I too am eagerly awaiting the VFR charts in VR.

Hi,

It will be a closed beta, initially at least, and it will start now during Q2, i.e. very soon. We then expect the public release in Q3.

Stephen
