Hello Navigraph,
I posted at Facebook and was ask to mention my plan here…
Is it possible to add an compass rose on the map, so that I can compare the wind heading with runways.
Thanks for all your work. I am enjoying it.

Maikel,
We’ll consider this, but for the specific use case, did you notice that we display the wind components of each runway (cross/head/tailwind) directly in the app?
Regards,
Stephen
Thanks for your reaction. I did not find that.
I do see windsocks next too runways but they do not point to the actual wind direction. I do find the Weather tab under the airport information. (General / Runways / Weather / Comms)
Silly point is that I get confused of what wind is mention, to or from. So is the wind is 180/6 should I choose runway 18 or 36. Thats why my question came up.

Hi Maikel,
Adding to Stephen’s post,
As an example, YMML has runways 09/27 and 16/34.
Current METAR is:
So winds are 240/09, meaning winds are 9 knots blowing from 240 . So aircraft should land into the wind on runway closest to this heading i.e. Runway 27
This is confirmed in Current runway options:
Runway 27 shows the largest headwind of 7 knots, with a crosswind of 6 knots (consistent with 240/09)
Runway 16 is an option with headwind of 3 knots, but crosswind of 8 knots might not be so comfortable.
Runways 09 and 34 generally wouldn’t be chosen due to tail wind component of 7 knots and 3 knots.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Ian
Hello Ian,
Thank you for your time pointing things out in this very clear matter. Your sentince “blowing from 240” is what I need, and also need to remember but having trouble with.
Think your screen shot with the runways and their wind component is what Stephen was asking me? I did notice those last time indeed then.
Again thank you for your time.
Maikel.
