THS in the Performance Calculator

Would it be possible to add the THS calculation for Airbus aircraft?

Hi,

There are no short term plans to add this. SimBrief does not plan or consider the weight distribution in the aircraft, since it makes no difference from a flight planning perspective.

In the real world, final weight distribution and stab trim setting is a load planning function that is done much closer to departure time (after all passengers and cargo is boarded). It is not typically handled or even considered at the flight planning stage.

Add to this, that it would be a huge job to collect all of the weight and balance zones and CG tolerances for all of the aircraft types and each individual aircraft add-on variant. And there would likely end up being mismatches most of the time anyways, since many add-ons randomize the zone weights when setting the payload (with no way for the user to go in and manually adjust them after the fact).

Best regards,

Sounds like a good excuse to switch to a real flight planning tool like ForeFlight then. Somehow, it and other professional, “non-toy” solutions manage to do what Navigraph claims is impossible, disparaging it seems even the need for something as fundamentally critical to flight as CG. Why call the section in your OFP a “Loadsheet” if it is anything but?

It isn’t impossible, it’s just a feature. Providing support for an aircraft configuration file and allowing add-on developers (or users) the ability to provide a suitable file for compatibility of their product is one way to eliminate all the work you mention. You should try ForeFlight to see how this is done.

It’s one thing to say you don’t want to do it. It’s quite another to try to lay claim to it being impossible, when in reality it’s a rather simple Excel spreadsheet.

Having such a feature would eliminate a major pain point for Airbus users for example, who presently have to manually re-input a bunch of data for every flight - data which Simbrief already has for the planned flight.
