The past two years, I’ve been logging my flights with a basic logbook I made on Google Sheets. Today, with the help of ChatGPT and my real life 135 flight logging software I use for work, I was brainstorming some ideas to add to my sim flight log. Among them was logging pax count, baggage, COMAIL, and HAZMAT.
The crew wouldn’t be able to gather this information simply from the payload generated in the OFP normally - it is normally handed to them via the cargo load report (CLR) from the ground crew once the flight is loaded up, along with the zone headcount from the lead FA. I used to work ramp and being the lead on some shifts, this was my responsibility to get filled out and delivered to the respective people. This information is all entered into the weight and balance form/calculation for center of gravity calculations.
That said, it would be really neat to see some, if not all this information generated in Simbrief. I’m not sure the extent that weight/balance reports could be produced, especially since that is more of an aircraft specific question, but the ability to see WHAT is being carried in the cargo bins would be an amazing thing to see right off the bat, and to see the payload distribution in each bin as well. It seems like a little nonsensical thing, but it does just add one more layer of realism to the app!
