It looks like Navigraph SimBrief EFB App (v1.0.0-beta.4) prevents navigation elements such as Airports, VORs, NDBs, Airspaces, from being displayed on the MSFS 2024 flight planner default map.
There is no issue when only Navigraph EFB Charts is installed.
As soon as SimBrief EFB App is removed from community folder everything is back to normal on the default MSFS flight planner map.
Sorry for the inconvenience. We have investigated this, and while the root cause is still quite a mystery, we believe that the latest Beta 5 of the SimBrief EFB app should fix this issue!
Please try it and see how it works for you! The update is available in the Navigraph Hub or as a manual download from the SimBrief website.
I just installed SimBrief EFB App v1.0.0-beta.5 and can confirm that Airports are back on MSFS charts, but Navaids are still missing. They went back after removing Beta5 again.
You’re on the right way, thanks again for the great support and the good work.
You’re right, I released it a couple minutes before my post above
I realized that there could be related issues there too, even if I have personally not been able to reproduce it! Looking forward to hearing your results!
Regardless of what addons I have in my Community Folder, the MSFS 2024 EFB has been failing to load flight plans for me.
I initially blamed MSFS 2024 and went back to 2020 in disgust, but when I see so many raving about the good things in 2024 I’m drawn back.
Anyway, on my system, what I’ve found is that if I remove the Navigraph AIRAC Cycle, and if I have a flight plan that only has waypoints that are a match for the sims nav data, then the EFB works a treat and works 100% of the time.
If however, I have a Navigraph AIRAC Cycle installed, then I cannot load a flight plan (Simbrief etc.) with waypoints, it will sit there saying “Loading” forever, and I have been as patient as waiting 15 minutes for a plan with just two waypoints.
Long story short, being not one to give up, I decided to dig as deep as I could and now have a solution for me which I’ve tested over 50 times with 100% success.
What I am now doing, and have to do, is before loading the MSFS 2024, and with Navigraph Hub loaded, I “Remove” the AIRAC Cycle and then immediately click “Install” and of course this only takes a second or two to do.
If I do that every single time I load MSFS 2024, then even with the most complex and ridiculous flight plan I create with Departures, Arrivals, Approaches and dozens of zig-zagging waypoints in between, then the EFB works a charm.
This is with all the Navigraph Avionics Plugins and Apps installed that are included in Navigraph Hub MSFS 2024 Tab.
If I don’t do this then it’s a 100% failure rate for the EFB.
What the heck can be happening that is cured by quickly removing and installing the same AIRAC cycle before loading MSFS 2024?
Heh, that sounds like quite the hacky workaround! I’m happy to hear that you find it to be working, though.
This is an ongoing issue in the simulator that affects pretty much all our products for MSFS 2024. In short, 2024 brought a regression to the way that the simulator handles package ordering. We (Navigraph) can no longer explicitly specify in what order our AIRAC should be loaded!
Instead, it is likely that the simulator falls back to alphabetical order for the packages. This will produce unreliable results, and the outcomes will most likely vary depending on what you have in your community folder.
Someone else fixed this by manually ordering the packages through the developer menu but it has to be done every sim restart, as far as I understand, so it is not convenient at all. See this post:
At the moment, there is nothing we can do to help this. We have created a (so far unattained to) bug report in the official MSFS forums if you are interested:
Thanks for the reply Malte.
I’m happy to know it’s not just me.
My workaround is not much of an inconvenience at all.
It’s looking at the moment, for me at least, that all I need to do is start Navigraph Hub with the PC, Remove then Install the AIRAC Cycle and then there are no problems with the EFB loading flight plans with Navigraph waypoints.
I found don’t actually need to do this each time I start MSFS2024 if the PC has not been rebooted or turned off.
re. “manually ordering the packages”.
Would doing this by editing Context.XML make any difference? Huess I’ll try.
(isn’t it wonderful how Context.XML gets a duplicate entry for so many addons on each sim load? ? - Great Site For This)
