It is your choice of course. But you don’t need to use any of the new features if you don’t want to. You can still just search airport by code, see the charts list, and open the Jeppesen charts. You don’t need to use the enroute chart, the VFR map, the flight planning features, or any of that.
Just listing and opening charts is as easy as in the previous one, if not easier.
I’ve managed to get it running quite well using the Firefox browser. Much faster than the Windows app or Chrome browser. I’m happy with it now! Many thanks …
Thanks for re-instating my flights library so quickly. I was wrong about the usefulness of the VFR map. Having spent some time with it it’s a useful and needed improvement to the poor World Map on the previous version.
A problem I have is that I dont know what some of the symbols mean. Any chance of a popup when hovering over a symbol with the mouse or a right click maybe.
With your support we will get used to V8 eventually !
Very sad to read here that reverting to V7 isn’t possible. Sorry, but i find V8 very confusing and a huge clutter. And i’m not the only one, i see various streamers (like Easyjetsimpilot) sticking with v7. I can only hope that V8 will be cleaned up from all the clutter in the future.
Could you be a bit more specific? What is your main concerns, where do you find it cluttered? We can only move forward, not backward, and if you let us know your concerns we have a chance to address them.
Hi Stephen, thanks for your reply.
The clutter and confusing is (for me) mainly between STARs and final. There used to be a very easy way to filter STARs, VIAs and (initial) approaches for a specific rwy. Now i get dozens on the map (for ALL rwy’s) in a very confusing (spagetti) way. It’s difficult to get any situational awareness out of them. The left-side column makes it even worse: I can’t find any logic, hierarchy and clarity in it. It was all very straightforward with V7, but with V8 (on some large int. airports) i just find it hard to pick the proper transition, VIA and initial approach out of that spagetti.
Please have a look at the latest version released today. We have made some improvements to the overview in terms of visual clarity and also that we only show procedures to one runway at the time, and not multiple.
You can use the runway filter box in the top left to change the overview to reflect the procedures connecting to each runway. It should now be very similar to the old app, except that the list of procedures are on the left side panel and not in a dropdown.
Yesss, thank you Stephen! I was just looking for the forum-post to add that this is so much better! I couldn’t put it into the right words to explain why it was so confusing to me previously, and why i lost my way navigating within the app. But you nailed this one! Thanks again!
