MD-11 Flap Performance

Loving the new performance calculation tool! However, I do see an issue with the MD-11 calculations as it seems to default to a Flaps 15 setting. Since the MD-11 has a Dial-a-flap option, takeoff flap settings often change with TOW, Flex Temps, Weather, etc. Could we expect more accurate dispatch information regarding the TO flaps setting in the new performance tool calculator? I am willing to provide documentation in order to aid this process.

Looking forward to your response.

I haven’t seen charts for the MD-11 but I’m familiar with DC-10 and MD-80 charts. I made a takeoff performance calculator for the latter that I never released. Dial-a-flap makes all the computations a bit more involving. However, I guess some of the algorithms would apply to the MD-11 as well.

+1 for making the performance calculations a bit more flexible. For the take-off calcs for the MD-11 , it has basic mode of enabling flex temps to be used, but I do not see where a specific flex temp can be entered.

Having this capability would be very useful.

If you take a look at the VAS Aviation Performance tool, they offer a wide variety of flex temps for the MD-11 as well as appropriate TO flap settings that take advantage of the dial-a-flap feature on the MD-11. It takes the load and runway length into account to provide a proper setting.

Here is the performance tool I was referencing: VAS Airplane Toolbox - Utilities - X-Plane.Org Forum
