Hi, I’m using your simrbeif takeoff performance calculation for the fbw a380 when I input the weather conditions and the right parameters it is always giving me flaps 1? Instead of 2 or 3?
Hi, can you give some examples of calculation parameters you are inputting?
You can also copy/paste the URL from your browser when viewing the calculation output to share it with us here.
Thanks,
Thanks, that’s quite a long runway, so flaps 1 looks reasonable.
May I ask why you think this calculation should be returning flaps 2 or 3?
Best regards,
It looks like they use FLAPS 2 or 3 on EGCC runway’s sometimes. It makes the flight somewhat realistic disregarding any performance calculations etc. Is it possible to do something about this, as I’m always getting flaps 1.
In most cases, at the takeoff weight you used in your screenshot (449,000 kg), with that runway length, flaps 1 will be the optimum. This is perfectly realistic and based on real data.
In the screenshot from your video, I agree that they seem to be using more than flaps 1, but that could have been due to any number of reasons (tailwind, shortened runway, hot temperature, a close-in obstacle in the takeoff path, different flex temperature optimization, or maybe some company-specific procedure). I assume of course that this screenshot was taken from the same runway as in your example (EGCC 23L)?
For what it’s worth, if you calculate your EGCC 23L example using a higher takeoff weight (550,000 kg for example), you’ll probably see more than flaps 1. And at lighter weights, if you ever want to use more than flaps 1, simply manually change the “Flap Setting” option from “Optimum” to “2”. Your V speeds will be recalculated accordingly.
Best regards,
Thank you.
