Hello
Since one of the latest updates it seems that in the ingame panel in MSFS waypoints, airports etc. are opened by a simple click. I’m pretty sure, in earlier versions it needed a long click (or right click) to open this menu. However the “new feature” often leads to accidently opening the menu when trying to simply drag the map. Especially in third party apps like AllInOne tablet, where the ingame menu is much smaller, you nearly can’t click a point without hitting a waypoint and therefore opening the waypoint menu. This is a very annoying behaviour (you can what I mean in this video after minute 3:00 https://youtu.be/rO0mecUu900?si=5edyczM0m5h8UQgu ).
For the ingame panel a long or right click to open waypoint infos etc. would be better IMHO.
Hello! Welcome back to our forum!
Hmm, this behavior is expected and has remained unchanged since the panel’s initial release. A long press (or right-click) triggers the geo-search function, which creates a circle highlight on the map and lists everything within that circle.
Left-clicking, on the other hand, will trigger the same function behind the scenes, but instead of showing everything in the area, it will try to pick the feature closest to where you clicked!
We have not made any changes to this behavior recently. When did you start noticing a difference?
Kind Regards,
Malte
IIRC it began with the latest Navigraph update (but not 100% sure if it really correlates). But I never noticed this before and I’m using the ig panel (especially the small one in AllInOne) for more than a year now. As you see in the video (and that’s not me in the video, so others seem to have the issue too) it’s nearly not possible to scroll the map without opening a waypoint menu. The smaller the window, the greater the chance to hit a waypoint, an airway, an airport etc.
Perhaps before, holding the mouse button for dragging wasn’t recognized as a click (so only a short click opened a menu!?).
I’m sorry, but I cannot reproduce the behavior you described…
Here is a short clip of me panning the map while intentionally pressing down in areas with waypoints and using the “double click to zoom in” feature - nothing seems to trigger the menu. The yellow circle around the mouse indicates that I am holding down the left mouse button.
Notice that towards the end, I am panning the map using quick “swipes” rather than dragging. This means that the duration of the button press is shorter and closer to a normal “click.” Still, the menu is not opened.
We have not made any changes to this behavior since it was first introduced, so it is puzzling that this is suddenly becoming an issue Are you sure that you are not accidentally clicking once before dragging? You can use software to visualize your clicks - I used Windows PowerToys in that clip but there are many ways.
Kind Regards,
Malte
Hi
Thanks for trying to reproduce and solve the issue. I‘m not at home at the moment and yesterday had some problems with the XBox App so perhaps it takes a moment but I will try to reproduce the issue with mouse visualization.
Maybe it‘s a VR problem as I use it mostly in VR (but in the video I posted above it was 2D too AFAIK)…
So long…
So I tried to reproduce it with mouse clicks visualized. As you see: if I click and hold in an “empty space” dragging works as intended. If I click and hold on any POI (like airways, VORs etc.) the cursor seems to focus on that point and after releasing the mouse button no matter where I am, it opens the point where I started my drag. This should only happen if I would click on the point without holding and dragging imho.
And hitting a “POI” happens ingame often accidently, especially with smaller displays like AllInOne for example (in this view it’s easy to hit a region without POIs but in smaller windows, it isn’t that easy).
I see! You can reproduce, but I am still unable to, despite mimicking exactly what you are doing regarding location and movement/clicks.
I will have to ask other team members to try this out. It is still vacation season in Sweden, so it may take a while before I have any results - sorry about that!
Kind Regards,
malte
See link in the above post for video documenting the issue.
Add me to the list of people growing increasingly frustrated with this. I also fly only in VR and I also feel like it somehow got worse in the last few months.
I’d like to propose you change the functionality to a double click if possible.
Additionally, 99.99% of the time the only info window I ever want to popup is an airport window and any time there is an airway or navaid on top of or very close to an airport it’s such a battle to get it to open the right one.
Could there be a way to create a setting so that we can disable airway/navaid popups totally? That would probably help a lot, even if the root cause cannot be easily determined.
Your interest and suggestions have been noted!
Since we have not changed anything in this regard, I assume that the simulator has changed in some unknown way - making this issue more common. We’ll need to dive deeper (or find a workaround) as soon as we have the resources to do so!
Kind Regards,
Malte
Hello again!
We have just pushed an update to the interface, which should hopefully fix this issue. No IGP update is needed, just a flight/simulator restart!
Please give it a go and let me know if you are still having trouble!
Kind Regards,
Malte
Don‘t know if it was your update or the need of a complete Win and Sim reinstall (due to some other problems with the sim).
But after the fresh install all worked again like before for me (hope this 2 day work isn‘t needed more often…).
I am happy to hear that it is working for you now!
The fix that we rolled out should be the reason why it is now working. But the confirmation is much appreciated, regardless!
Kind Regards,
Malte
