Duplicate airway segment m348 in Cuba

Flight from MUPB Playa Baraco - MDPP Pueto Plata
Simbrief gave FL190 for the C414 and the following flightplan, however when importing the gfp file it gave an error ‘unknown airway removed from flightplan’.
MUPB/21 N0215F190 ABAN4B UHA J1 UVA UM348 MEDKO M348 KNSLY Y353 ALBBE UM348 RETAK RETA2S MDPP/08
Manual input in the GTNXi works fine until MEDKO where two M348 airways are available . Selecting the second M348 in the 750 is accepted. It seems this is where the flightplan breaks down. There is also a dual airway from KNSLY - M348/Y353 - ALBBE which should be no factor. Looking at the chart M348 should be available right through to RETAK, but this simplified flightplan does not work either.

Hi,
I assume, you use the current AIRAC cycle 2402 for SimBrief and in the MSFS. I’m not sure what data the C414 use, also what GTNXi you exactly mean. Therefore a more or less general answer.

The MSFS airways are buggy and not really usable. Specially in such cases where you have multiple equal airway segments in different areas. Your examples: the M348 has 3 segments:

UVA → MEDKO
MEDKO → ALBBE
ALBBE → MEEGL

… or here in our charts:

The reason for the segmentation is, that this airway cross three times geographical boundaries. MSFS has an issue here, even when such airway is a continuous route, which passes “only” boundaries.

Try the same (if you have the possibility) in any addon which use an external dataset, like the PMDG, the Fenix or also the brandnew TDS GTNXi … Here you will see that it’s working (tested in the PMDG as an example).

started from UHA:

and here the legs to this flightplan:

So, the flightplan is valid and also working. The core issue are the airway-segments in MSFS with the multiple segments. So, when your addons use the MSFS navdata it is recommended to enter the waypoints manually, not via the airways.

In such addons, which uses external database (so not the in-game data), it should work as normal. Sorry for that.

Richard

Thanks for your reply Richard. To clarify, I am using all Navigraph data current airac . Flightplan generated in Simbrief, imported into the new TDS 750 GTNXi Pro. I noticed when manually compiling the flightplan in the TDS unit, at MEDKO there are 2 M348 airways available. Perhaps you are correct with the boundary situation.
Is Simbrief not aware of these situations and unable to resolve them, but results in a Locked segment?

Hello,

We can confirm that this is a TDS GTNXi Pro bug, thank you for pointing it out, as well as thank you @NAVData for the clear information, it has helped us track down the bug and fix it. The two M348 airways for MEDKO in the TDS GTNXi Pro is a bug and this has been fixed.

The fix will be part of the next TDS GTNXi Pro version release: V1.1.0.1

A most excellent outcome. Thank you Tiberiu and Richard.
Not only are both of your products so good to use in MSFS, but now they are working together.
This kind of cooperation between companies is highly appreciated.
Thanks again.
Best regards
Trevor
