Sorry if this has been mentioned already. The desktop app no longer remembers the last window size used - this was a problem with an earlier version which got fixed.
Thanks
Hello and welcome back to our forum!
We recently had a similar issue which remains unsolved:
Could you answer the same questions asked over there? Mainly:
Also, please note where you are leaving the window before closing the application. Is there any location you can put it in where it remembers the position at all?
Kind Regards,
Malte
Reinstalled and updated 8.33.0 8341268705
Windows 11 23H2
No management software
I have a 4k landscape monitor and a 1920x1200 landscape, running on 4090
Charts is on smaller monitor, running nearly full screen
Still not saving position
Must stress it was working on my setup until recent update!
Thanks for this information! Could you also check this?
Try to put it in a smaller window in the middle of your main screen for example. Does it still not save?
The app has some logic that resets the window position if Windows reports that it is off-screen.
I can confirm that nothing has been changed in this regard, the responsible code and anything affecting it remained untouched for the last update. It could be related to a Windows update, though…
If it is not saving your position at all regardless of window position, we probably need to investigate rewriting this feature completely…
For some additional information, please follow these steps:
Locate window-state.json
- Press Win + R
- Type
%appdata%\Navigraph Charts
and press enter - Locate
window-state.json
in the explorer window that opens
Debugging
Now, please follow these steps to try to get a grip of the situation:
- Open Charts and place it where you want it
- Close it down
- Copy the
window-state.json
file and upload it to your next forum post - Open Charts again - its position should reset again, please confirm that this is the case.
- Close Charts again and upload the
window-state.json
file once again to your next post.
In the end, you should have two window-state.json
files uploaded!
Apologies for the inconvenience, let’s try to track this down together!
Kind Regards,
Malte
