T/O Flaps calculation

Hello,
as far as i know, the Optimum Flap setting is mostly Flaps 1 for a B737-800.
May i ask, why Simbrief always calculate Flaps 5 for T/O ?

Thanks
Matthias

Depends on the company.

For instance, at American flaps 1 takeoff is pretty standard/normal on the 800 and MAX8, if runway is long enough. That being said, American has a company policy that the HUD must be down and used for every takeoff and landing because it gives the captain indications of a possible tailstrike that is about to occur.

However, at Southwest, flaps 1 takeoff is extremely rare on the 800 and MAX8. Southwest normally uses flaps 5 as the minimum flap setting due to more tail clearance on rotation.

However, tail clearance isnt really an issue on the 700. So SWA uses flaps 1 alot as the minimum takeoff flap setting oh the 700, if the runway is long enough.

Does that all make sense?

Hello,

for sure, i know there arfe different company policy’s.

Thats the reason i ask for a SETTING in the Aircraft Settings or maybe anywhere else to have my own “Company Policy” ( lets call it like that.

Matthias

This is just a place holder within the calculation. It’s up to the pilots force in different setting as stated below. It just depends on your company policy.

Cheers

Yes, and for me, it will always ( if possible ) be Flaps 1 for T/O.
That for i want to have this by default set to Flaps 1
