On three separate flights this weekend I experienced the same problem with three different arrivals into three different airports. The transition waypoint appeared in the correct position on the MFD (i.e. visually appeared in the correct place) but were being calculated as being somewhere else. Example - while flying toward the waypoint the distance to the waypoint was actually increasing. In each case I had to go direct to the next waypoint or vector to the final approach. The three airports, STARS, and transitions are as follows:
Not sure if this is a Navigraph issue or PMDG problem. Will do a flight with the Fenix A320 to the same destinations with the same arrivals and will also try removing and adding back the Navigraph data for the PMDG 777. I did want to call it out in the event others were experiencing the same issue.
Operating System: Windows 10
Flight Sim Version: MSFS
Add-on: PMDG 777
AIRAC Update No: 2408
Any non-standard hardware or software: All airports were MSFS default. Only non-standard 3rd party software running at the time was GSX Pro.
Hi,
you wrote, its ok on the ND but the calculation (I assume on the FMC) is incorrect?! Please can you post a screenshot where we see the wrong calculation?
I’m not sure, if I understood you correctly because normally, when the flightpath on the ND is correct, the entries in the FMC are also correct.
Post a screenshot please, where we can see the issue. Thank you very much!
Yes, the display I was referencing was the ND. My apologies. Switching between Boeing and Airbus, I can get the terminology confused (FCU/MCDU, MCP/FCU, MFD/ND, etc.) The flight path itself was not okay. Position of the transition waypoint appeared to be where it should be on the screen compared to the STAR charts, but the flight path itself did not intersect with it. In the JFK and EGLL examples it appeared to be behind me but not by a large margin (20 nm or so). In the VHHH example, whatever it was calculating for the LIME transition was sufficiently far away that it was showing “Insufficient Fuel” and the VNAV page was showing zero fuel at VHHH. However, I was within 10 nm of the airfield and had over 30K lbs. of fuel on board. The coordinates that were being used for the transition were way off.
I did a flight in the Fenix A320 into EGLL today. While not faithfully recreating the flight where I experience the issue, it was a route from LPMA to EGLL with the Roxio 1H STAR and he OCK transition. I did not experience any problems. The flight path was drawn perfectly.
I’ve reloaded the Navigraph data for the B77W and will do a flight over night from KDFW to EGLL in the 777. Will update the post with the results. I will take a screen capture if the waypoint for the transition appears to be incorrect. I will also update the post if reloading the Navigraph data appears to have resolved the issue.
