I got the following route from Simbrief flying a C172.
KABE DCT SBJ V232 TYKES V123 PROUD MIP4 KLGA
If you look at the MIP4 STAR into KLGA it does not show PROUD as one of the transitions. I loaded the route directly into the G1000 from Simbrief and it gets me to PROUD and then flies all of the STAR waypoints from the beginning back to PROUD - probably about 10 of them.
My question is twofold. 1) To properly program the G1000 in this case, would I have to manually delete each and every MIP4 waypoint prior to PROUD? 2) More of a practical point, PROUD is the last waypoint in the STAR, so is there any value at all in listing the star in the route?
Hi,
the MIP STAR doesn´t fit because the MIP STAR starts at MIP which is “behind” (in the opposite of your flight direction) your destination airport KABE - so this STAR doesn´t make sense.
I have tried to the flightplan in SimBrief and it returns only: SBJ V232 TYKES V123 PROUD
so, no MIP STAR, which is absolutely correct. From PROUD you need vectors to the final into KLGA. PROUD is part of an airway so, and the starting point for the final approach - so in this case you don´t need any STAR - thats the reason why SimBrief doesn´t offer any STAR in the initial flightplan.
So, don´t add MIP4 as STAR and you don´t need to delete any waypoint - the STAR is not necessary when you compare it with the charts
