Hello, the UAE eAIP has recently added a table which shows the preferred arrival depending on the arrival ETA for the optimal fuel planning into Dubai this can be found under AD>>>OMDB>>>2.22.5.8. I also included a copy of the table below if we can get that implemented that would be great thank you for all your hard work!
While the chart is nice (we used to operate to OMDB, now we go to OMDW); there is nothing on that chart that changes how you plan other than specific procedures as a function of ETA. In our route database that would be a manual remark our Airnav group would maintain - for those remarks would NOT be in the underlying Arinc424 data; so nothing for a flight planning system to key off of.
Note it says that you could be required to fly the whole procedure. When planning into OMDB, you just had to be careful to not plan to land at Max Landing weight; for if a flight did get miles shaved off the procedure (which was regular) - you could be overweight for landing; which is no kinds of fun on top of the temps at landing.
I have heard of flights dropping flaps and gear at 10K to get under MLDW when they’d get miles shaved off the procedure. Ooops.
Sorry I am not sure where you coming from or what’s the point you are trying to make here as you contradicting yourself. EK actually uses this data to plan STARs with track shorten into Dubai as the standard method.
As Doug noted the data is not generally available for flight planning software to use, your last post indicates that EK are using a tailored data set for STAR’s which likely include the extended legs.
