HI there, I’ve searched the forum and can see this has been raised several times - but looking at the responses I think there is a misunderstanding around the chart’s availability.
Currently only the RNP-Z charts are available in navigraph and RNP-Y is not - previous responses have suggested that these charts are not public and airline specific.
I believe this is incorrect. While they they do require approval to fly from the CAA (Civil Aviation NZ), the charts are fully public on the official charts repository for NZ (AIP). The restrictions on both charts are the same, so does it make sense to include one and not the other?
The only difference between the charts is that Z is for CAT B aircraft, while Y is for CAT C & D. They have slightly different minimums, and a marginally tighter go-around for rwy 05.
We are not filtering out any charts. The RNP-Y charts, if they are even built by Jeppesen, are not delivered to us. Maybe there is no real world user of these charts with our data provider and hence the chart is not added to the chart library. In any case, I’m afraid there is nothing we can do about it, we are not in a position to request charts to be added to the database.
G’day TehHoggs, there is also a note on the Y charts to state “GE special design criteria, GE Aviation approval required” This suggests a proprietary procedure for General Electric and hence Jepppesen may not own rights to the chart.
Yes the chart is in the public domain, hence the procedures have been manually written for our simulator use. It’s just the fact that the charts are owned by someone other than the Jeppesen data provider so they are not in the offer from Navigraph.
Just a thought as a potential workaround to situations like this, do you think it could be a worthwhile feature to allow us to upload custom PDFs into the charts client, so that we can open them alongside all the Jeppesen charts?
