Dear Navigraph Team,
We are currently developing a professional flight simulation system that interfaces with X-Plane 11.50.
Our setup involves two separate machines: one running X-Plane and another running our proprietary simulator.
Both systems require synchronized and up-to-date navigation data (procedures, waypoints, airways, etc.).
Us and our end client intend to subscribe to Navigraph services to keep the navigation data current, and we would appreciate your guidance on the following points:
1. X-Plane 11.50 Support Continuity
-
Given that navigation data must be updated every 28 days (AIRAC cycle), could you confirm whether Navigraph is committed to maintaining data availability for X-Plane 11.50 in the foreseeable future?
-
Is there any planned end-of-support date for X-Plane 11?
2. Recommended Approach for Dual-System Integration
We are evaluating two potential approaches and would value your expertise:
-
Option A - Using Navigraph FMS Data Manager: We would use the FMS Data Manager to update X-Plane with Navigraph’s custom navigation data and then parse these .dat files on our proprietary simulator side. Is this a recommended approach? Are there any tools or libraries available to facilitate parsing these files?
-
Option B – Using DFD (Digital Flight Data): We would use the FMS Data Manager to update X-Plane on one side, while directly retrieving the DFD for our proprietary simulator on the other side.
Does a Navigraph subscription provide access to the DFD?
If so, is there any risk of data discrepancies between these two sources (FMS Data Manager output vs. DFD) within the same AIRAC cycle?
We would be grateful for any guidance or documentation you could provide.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
