MSFS2024 Incorrect Altitude Import On Direct Flight

I recently loaded a flight that I created in Simbrief into MSFS2024 for a direct flight from GLRB to DISP. On importing into MSFS2024 the altitude was incorrect; I had set to 5000ft in Simbrief and it came up as -214748FL. I then added the RITAM waypoint in Simbrief and on import the altitude was correct 5000FT/50FL. I have attached screenshots of both scenarios.

Hello! Thank you for the feedback.

I can reproduce the issue! We shall investigate.

Kind Regards,
Malte

Please try this build and let us know how it works for you!

Thanks, just to confirm do I unzip in the community folder for MSFS2024. Do I need to remove the prior using the manager tool for MSFS. Also, if I want to uninstall and put back the original what is the procedure.

Correct!

Not necessarily, but it doesn’t hurt to do so.

Simple - just remove the folder from your Community folder and install it again from the Hub!

Malte

I tried the fix but I could not get the Simbrief option to show in the EFB. Did the following:

  1. Removed the option via the hub and then unzipped the package placing the navigraph-efb-simbriefapp folder in the community folder. Started MSFS 2024 and could not see Simbrief in the EFB.

  2. Closed down MSFS2024. Deleted the navigraph-efb-simbriefapp folder, reinstalled via the hub and then unzipped again overwriting the files the hub had installed. Restarted MSFS2024 and I still couldn’t see Simbrief in the EFB.

  3. Closed MSFS2024, removed the folder and re-installed Simbrief for EFB from the hub. Restarted MSFS2024 and Simbrief worked from the EFB, though it still had the issue as I could not make the new version work.

Happy to try again if something is missing from the update provided.

That sounds unexpected, we have confirmed this to be working internally

Please reinstall the version from that zip, and if it does not show up in the menu then try these steps:

Malte

Hi,

I reinstalled the files you sent by Unzipping the zip file to the community folder. Simbrief did not show in the EFB and I have attached a screenshot. I then removed and reinstalled by the hub and it showed up. I ran a browser screenshot of it working after this install method also attached. I’m based on the US West Coast so am running US config of Windows. PC is an Intel i9, nVidia 4080. I will try any fixes you may suggest tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

In the first screenshot, the package has not been correctly installed by the looks of it. How did you extract the folder? What does the structure look like when it is placed in the community folder?

Actually, we are able to reproduce the issue ourselves - so far without explanation.
We shall look into it, sorry for the inconvenience!

Please try this one out. Does it load for you?

Thank you for your patience so far!

I was able to remove the standard SImbrief item via the hub, moved this one into community and it seems to work. I can get to it in the EFB and on loading the flight the correct altitude is showing. Interestingly it does not show in the EFB immediately, it takes a second or two and then shows as a selectable icon when you first load the sim, after that it’s immediate. Behavior repeats if you close and reopen the sim. It didn’t have this delay with the standard version from the hub. The Navigraph Charts icon is immediate for example.

An update on the above, seems the avionics is not getting any altitude now in the aircraft, for C172 and for the C182 I am getting the IAF altitude from the default approach it is loading. I am wondering if this is an issue with the sim at the moment, as I am also seeing this when I load a flight plan from the MS planning tool. Also I tried using the Simbrief in EFB a few times to import flights and check things, and it has now crashed the sim twice. I have gone back to the current production version from the hub and this does not seem to be happening.

Hmm, that sounds very odd - none of the changes made in this version should make it crash more often.

The delay before the icon shows up was expected, however. Here is a new version where that should no longer be the case! Please give it a go. Perhaps the crashes will be gone too!

I tried this one but unfortunately I am back to the issue of it not showing in the EFB. I reloaded the current production version via the hub and it shows up. I have uploaded a browser screenshot as requested before when I am using the fix provided.

Sorry for the trouble. Perhaps this version works better?

I tried this one and it seems to work well, quick load in EFB, imported flight plans correctly and was able to import multiple times without crashing. Thanks for the prompt turnaround on this issue. As side note, and I can open another bug if you prefer, some of the info such as call sign, transponder type, flight type (General etc) does not load, this is the case prior to this fix.

Cool, thanks for confirming!

I’m not entirely sure what you mean by the rest. Do you expect the SimBrief import to set your callsign, transponder, and “flight type” in the simulator?

  • Based on my experience, setting the callsign is possible but will yield unreliable results due to how the in-game ATC works…

  • The transponder is not currently part of the SimBrief output, and I am not sure how realistic that would be but there is a feature request here:

  • I am not sure what “flight type” you are referencing and how that would affect MSFS. Perhaps you are talking about something specific to careers?

Malte

Thanks for the follow-up. I was referring to the attached screen below in the EFB. Details such as flight rules, registration, flight number, transponder type and flight type, should be available and loadable from the Simbrief aircraft and flight profile. From my C182 profile for example, I also believe you could load some of the NAV/COM items, as I see it called out in the detailed flight plan within Simbrief.

The actual transponder code comes in at flight launch as you would expect from ATC, so no issue there. Also there is currently a bug in MSFS2024 where the registration is being replaced with a country specific one on each flight, but it could still be loaded as I am sure they will fix that, it worked in MSFS2020.

Hmm, I see.

I have looked at their code, and the values listed in your screenshot are tracked within that app only - it seems we can’t directly affect them. Also, I am having a hard time seeing if they are ever used anywhere - do any of these settings affect the simulator at all outside of this screen?
