MSFS2024 Incorrect Altitude Import On Direct Flight

Thanks. I have observed if you just want to do a free flight from airborne, say to fly an approach, setting IFR will lead to the in game ATC supporting this as an IFR flight, otherwise it treats the flight as VFR. Outside of that its not clear. There is a general bug in the sim where it doesn’t take the tail number/registration even set in the game, it generates random ones each time. Assuming that gets fixed it might be good to get the registration. It also seems the weight and fuel parts of the EFB also don’t load in from what is shown in the flight plan in Simbrief, at least not for me. They could be useful, I think. I fly GA planes in the sim, so it may be good to get some input on these items from people who fly airliners with more complex flight planning. Thanks again for the great turn around on all these items. I presume the fix to simbrief imported altitudes will show in one of the standard releases via the hub.

We have found a way to fill out the details on the page you referenced! That will likely be included in a future update. As expected, though, it has nothing to do with anything else in the simulator; it’s just “for the looks” - at least regarding the ATC callsign. It seems like the details could affect some OFP and/or ATC flightplan features, but I am unsure where to find that and thus have not tested it.

In the meantime, you can try this version:

navigraph-efb-simbriefapp.zip (187.6 KB)

That’s correct and expected. We might look into that in the future, but there will likely be implications. And it would likely need to be optional - some still want realistic ground operations with “manual” refueling based on OFP values.

Feel free to create a topic in SimBrief > Feature Requests if this would benefit you!

Of course! Soon, likely tomorrow.

Kind Regards,
Malte

Thanks I’ll try this fix over the weekend and let you know. I do think loading the fuel and weight as an optional choice would be good. I can create a feature request over the weekend as you suggested. With regards to the tail number/registration/call sign they should override the default for the plane in the sim at least in theory, though as mentioned the sim seems to have a bug where it is not honoring the tail number I set for the airplane anyway at the moment.

One bug that does seem to have come up with the fix prior to this one, is that I am now getting an incorrect altitude from ATC, even though the flight plan loads correctly. I have attached two screenshots, one of the Simbrief flight plan and one of the sim showing the EFB, G1000 display and the ATC dialogue.

The EFB altitude matches Simbrief (8000ft), the G1000 is loaded correctly, I just haven’t set altitude yet so it shows IAF height for the approach for all waypoints, but ATC has cleared me 1000 feet higher. You can see this in the ATC dialogue box.

This happened the two times I tried this. May just be some wacky thing with the in game ATC, but just wanted to let you know.

In theory, maybe. But there is no code to do that yet, as far as I can tell. Maybe in a future update! For now, to the extent of my knowledge, they are just text fields without any greater purpose.

We have not changed anything in this regard. Are you sure that this change came with this update? Do you get a different result with the version currently available in the Navigraph Hub?

If all other sources are showing the correct altitude, that sounds like an ATC issue to me. Feel free to try the Hub version and see if the result differs, though!

I tried the fix and the fields were updated as you indicated, and it worked well. The altitude issue happened with the hub version as well, so I put that down to a quirk in the MSFS 2024 ATC, which seems to have several quirks and issues at the moment. I will open up a new feature request for the optional update of weight and fuel. Thanks again for all the help on these.

Cool, that sounds good. Thank you for the feedback! The hub version is now updated.
