Moving Maps Causing Stutters

I have detected a very obvious issue when activating my position on maps (moving maps). When I tick the arrow to show my position on a map, I get a very obvious and distinctive stutter and it seems to be very rhythmic. Unclick and it goes away. This is mostly on the grournd but it happens, although not as bad, in the air at altitude. RTX 4090, 64 gb Ram, 13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i9-13900K 3.00 GHz, win 11, DX12. VR=Q3. This is very obviously happening when i activate moving maps. Happens in all my add ons. Please help and advise.

Please ensure you have the latest Simlink downloaded and installed.

If still an issue, please advise if this occurs in Charts Desktop, Charts Cloud, Charts EFB and in what operating system, Flight Sim, aircraft with versions.

Cheers
Ian

@Ian I noticed the same problem recently and narrowed it down to Charts Desktop. Specifically it seems it may be related to the Moving Map and Own Ship options. If I turn those off the stutters seem to mostly reduce.

Simlink is up to date. I’m running Charts Desktop with MSFS 2024 on Windows 11. Citation Longitude aircraft is all I fly.

Sorry to revive an old topic, but I didn’t want to start a new one.

I’ve been having this issue also for a long time. It’s 100% caused by moving maps. The stutter stops immediately after turning moving maps off.

Has anyone figured out how to mitigate this?

Still an issue:

-Simlink is current
-Occurs in Navigraph InGamePanels Charts
-Win 11 Home 24h2
-MSFS 2020
-All Aircraft

Please advise.

Still an issue with 2024 !

I linked this with Navigraph (ingampe panel or Fenix EFB). But strange enough, it’s when a displayed it once that it stopped the stutters.

it happens to me too, but It happens just simply utilizing navigraph on the fs2024’s EFB, it is very annoying for a product which we pay monthly for. Please take a solution cause it is useless as is now. thanks

P.S. uninstalling all the modules inside fs2024 and using navigraph on an external tablet solve the problem so the problem is evidently the navigraph integration in fs2024. My preoccupation now is that this things broke the performances of the addon integrated with navigraph like fslabs, fenix etc etc, and what may we do in this case? is it sufficent to not activate navigraph in the addon’s tablet? i have to test this.

Again…I’m sorry to revive this old topic. But the issue still persists. Can any of the devs confirm whether or not this is a logged bug?

Hello,

Welcome to the Navigraph Forum!

To assist you in resolving the issue you are experiencing, please consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Ensure that you have installed the most recent version of the Simlink application and updated Simlink plugins, particularly for installed flight simulators other than Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS).
  2. If your flight simulator or the MSFS Community Data folder is located on an external drive, we recommend relocating it to your main system drive. Alternatively, please confirm that the external drive is equipped with fast read and write capabilities, such as those found in an SSD.
  3. If you have antivirus software installed, please verify that it allows Simlink to operate without restriction.

If you continue to encounter difficulties after following these steps, please do not hesitate to reach out us.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, none of those fixed the issue for me. As soon as I disable moving maps…the stuttering is completely gone.

Hello,

Could you please provide us with more information, including the following details?

  1. Your system configuration.
  2. The version of your operating system.
  3. Is your MSFS community folder located on an external drive? If so, which drive are you using?

These details will help us provide you with a better solution.

Thank you!

Having the same Issue with X-Plane 12 as well. Latest plugin 1.1.40.1707 on Windows 11. Happens on both X-Plane 12.3.3 and the new 12.4 beta. Looking at the plugin admin, most times the plugin is taking around 25us on the flight loop to run, but on occasion when the stutter happends, it rises to 4750us. No obvious reason why it is spiking, doesn’t happen on every refresh. The Simlink log is producing some repeated errors at the same time as the stutter Status: -6; Last error: 183. My hardware is 9950X3D, RTX 4090 with 64GB ram, so not short of resource.

Attaching the logs of the error code which is still coincident with X-plane 12 stutters. Disabling the Simlink plug-in stops the problem. No sure why the debug log keeps mentioning repeatedly it’s detecting MSFS2020 and trying to connect when I don’t have MSFS?

X-Plane 12 Beta_20251221031956_log.txt (4.8 KB)

simlink_2025-12-21-copy.dlog (5.4 MB)

Haven’t seen any response from Naivgraph to the logs I attached above. Does anyone know what Status 6, Last Error 183 actually means, can’t find any obvious cause having removed other plugins?

Hello,

Please check this. And feel free to inform us if you still face the issue.

Thank you!

Vishal, running Windows 11 25H2. The OS is installed on a Samsung 980 PRO NVME SSD and X-Plane is on a seperate 990 Evo Plus NVME SSD. Have tried with Simlink 1.40 installed on either drive. Bitdefender Antivirus is set not to scan the X-Plane drive, only the OS.

Happens whether I load Navigraph Charts for Windows or don’t. Using X-Plane 12 with Toliss A319 version 1.11. Tried with all plug-ins disabled apart from Better Pushback and Avitab disabled, still get the stutter. What would help is if someone can tell me what Status -6 Last Error 183 means, then it might give me a clue of other things to try. Don’t get any errors until the plane starts moving.

Hello,

Thank you for providing the details.

Based on the error code, it appears that Simlink is unable to connect with the Simulator due to a file access restriction.

Could you please try starting both the Simulator and Simlink with administrative rights and see if that resolves the issue? Additionally, if possible, please move the Simulator to the OS drive and check again.

Let us know if you continue to experience the problem.

Thank you!

Vishal, the file restriction messages was a good clue. Having removed plug-ins, changed drivers etc and still had the stutter and error messages, the culprit was Samsung Magician software. Using the Process Monitor tool from Microsoft, the SamsungMagicianSVC.exe process was constantly requesting disk information to check every SSD’s performance. When this occured at the same time as Simlink trying to access its own SSD, Simlink was delayed in being able to read/write files. Have fixed this by ensuring the collect drive status and performance option in Magician is unchecked, and that in Windows Services, SamsungMagicianSVC.exe is set to manual start, not automatic. Further tests show the Simlink log now has no errors.
