Moving map not auto starting

Hi all

Brand new user here so every chance this is user error, thing is i’ve selected auto start for moving map on both the windows app and in the in sim panel, but it doesn’t start when i launch either of them. I can confirm that simlink is indeed running, its set to start with windows and is enabled when i check startup in task manager. The auto start selection is still on in both the app and the in sim panel too.

If anyone could help it’d be much appreciated…perhaps i’m just not understanding what auto start moving maps does in Navigraph charts?

Cheers

Jamie

Hello! Thanks for the feedback, and sorry for the late response! This post slipped under our radar.

We can confirm that there has been a regression in this feature, and it is no longer working entirely as expected. We will investigate as soon as resources become available!

In the meantime, let me shed some light on how this feature works:

When Auto Start is enabled, Charts will attempt to automatically enable the moving maps function in response to the following events:

  • The app is initially loaded
  • A flight is loaded
  • A flight is unloaded
  • The flight is changed

Currently, an unrelated change is causing some of these to not work correctly - or not at all. It sort of depends on your internet connection and the results could therefore vary!

We’ll look into this as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Kind Regards,
Malte

Here is one little adjacent request, skip if you think it’s the wrong place.
I would prefer not having the airplane as the central focus in the map (Lock location). I want to pam around as I prefer without being moved back automatically. If you understand what I mean. Maybe others prefer so, I don’t know.

Hmm, please elaborate a bit. Is this not already possible by just not turning on the follow mode?
Or would you expect the map to still move with your position, just not keep the aircraft in center?

Hi, I meant I would like to have “none lock location” as a default setting. It’s just a bit annoying to have to click/unselect the lock position state everytime I enter a map enabling me to pan around as I prefer.

I am still not entirely sure exactly what you mean, unfortunately. You don’t want the follow mode to be enabled whenever you start the moving maps feature?

Could you confirm whether or not you have Auto Follow enabled in your settings?

With this setting off, the follow mode should not be automatically enabled!

Well, thank you for this, should have checked that out myself!

However, the setting doesn’t seemed to be saved between sessions so I still need to do the job.

Hmm. That setting absolutely should be saved between sessions! Feel free to create a new topic if you see a different behavior! It works fine for me.

Did you close MSFS and reboot in between?

Ah, you are using the panel. In that case, the persistence is uncertain due to simulator limitations, unfortunately! We’ll migrate all our panels/EFB apps to use our own (much more reliable) storage system in the future.

Yes I’m using the panel almost only, also the inside VR version.

I see. Then the situation will likely be improved in the future!
