Simbrief seems to set cruise altitudes for short routes as high as it can practically go. This results in things like:
- Climb to FL390
- Stay there for 10 minutes
- Descend back down to destination
It would be nice if one could set a parameter that limits the cruise altitude. Some options:
- Time based: e.g. “Whatever cruise altitude you give me should give me at least 20 minutes in level cruise”
- Distance based: e.g. “I should be level for at least 150 miles”
- Descent-control based: e.g., “I want to cruise at an altitude low enough that I don’t have to start my descent in the FIR that’s not my destination’s” (i.e., if I’m flying from Japan to Korea and it’s a short flight across the channel, I would want to pick a cruise altitude that isn’t so high that I need to start my descent while in the Tokyo FIR).
