Hi, any idea how to add an initial low cruising altitude, for example,
Flights from HJJJ are limited upto FL 240 until FIR boundary where they can get higher levels, any ideas how to add that to the dispatcher? I know for step descend you add WAYPOINT/FLXXX but what about being limited initially until a boundary fix ?
Do you mean on the new flight page? You set the initial cruise altitude to 24000 and use waypoint/f___ in the route string to do a step climb when allowable.
This does mean you need to pick the step climb manually but you can do a dry-run with altitude set to AUTO to see how high your aircraft can/should climb given the selected weights, then manually override to 24000 and set the step climb as required.
So by unchecking “Plan Step Climb” and leave the cruise altitude at lets say FL 230 and then do FIRBP/F330, (FIR boundary = FIRBP) yes this seems to work, but my issue is SimBrief will not calculate the optimal cruise altitude and/or any altitude changes along the route and any step climbs will be not generated on its own. So the fuel and performance calculations will be off
Yes, as I have explained, it’s a two-step process. First do a briefing preview with automatic altitude and take note of the computed cruise altitude (and step climbs, if any). Then enter your initial altitude restrictions and insert the climbs manually.
Hi, just to expand a little on what Tim said, you can make this process easier by using the “Calculate and Compare” tool to calculate a preview of the OFP (with auto step climbs), without leaving the options page.
Then, you can simply copy the route string (which now includes all of the planned step climbs) from the results window and re-paste it into the “Route” option, then simply modify any as required:
You can leave the departure airport, arrival airport, runways, and speed values in the route string as SimBrief simply ignores these when parsing the route. Note also how you can specify the initial altitude directly in the route string like this, which gives the same result as if you entered it into the “Altitude” option.
