Lpma Degun 1W

Hello and happy new year

This morning i took of madeira runway 23 with degun1w sid.
During préparation i saw that after TO hdg 175 i must me above 4000, that is not really achievable
I take a time to watch a 737 who took of in real time and he wasn t able to pass this point above 4000.
So how i should read this altitude, or maybe there is a problem.

Thanks

Hi,
why shouldn’t it possible to climb to 4000 feet on headg 175? After take off turn immediately to heading 175, climb to 4000 ft and turn left to MA647 …

Why shouldn’t this be possible?

Here, directly from the AIP Portugal:

The yellow marker is an at or above 4000 feet and the next line a DF segment, direct to fix MA647. So the coding is correct according the AIP.

Cheers
Richard

As i understand the chart i should pass this point above 4000, i dont speak ma647
But with the best volonter i wasn’t able to reach this altitude at this point, and what i explain about the 737 Ryanair who took of in real life he wasn’t able too.
I there no error then i am.ok
Thanks

As you see from the AIP, this is a “course to altitude” point, so it depends on the climb rate, when and where you reach the 4000 feet. The chart and the AIP indicates only that you may not turn to MA647 BEFORE reaching the 4000 feet.

The flight path can be differ of course, some aircrafts turn earlier, some later - depending of the climb rate of the aircraft or special ATC restriction.

The chart doesn’t indicate that you must turn exactly on this point … you see this also, that there is no further heading to MA647.

Hope that helps
Richard
