Hi, just got into flying MSFS in VR (using Windows Mixed Reality platform) and was wondering if there is any way to get Navigraph charts to display in VR? Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks !
John
Hello John! Welcome to the forum.
There are ways to bring external applications into your VR experience. This functionality is already implemented for Oculus VR and Steam VR. When it comes to Windows Mixed Reality headsets, I think this is a very limited feature. One suggestion would be to try the steps mentioned by Microsoft to include the desktop as a “2D Slate”.
We are actively talking to 3rd party developers about including our charts in their EFBs, which in turn should be available in VR.

Malte
Alternatively, depending on the VR support for MSFS, you might be able to use SteamVR for Mixed Reality. This would perhaps allow you to utilize the tools (paid and freeware) that are already available to SteamVR users. I am not able to verify this, as I do not have a Mixed Reality headset, but I have used the tools for SteamVR and can confirm that they would be able to do what you want to achieve!

I wonder whether the Navigraph devs are thinking of potentially providing an MSFS addon, that would have an icon on the inflight menu, and be able to be located anywhere in the cockpit, like the ATC window and VFR map, to display the full or partial functionality of the Navigraph Charts.
If that could be provided, that would integrate Navigraph Charts into both 2D and VR cockpits of all aircraft and not just those with a developer produced EFB.
Little Navmap has such an addon by the way.

I have tried the desktop as a 2D slate in VR by using the “follow me” feature in WMR but can’t seem to get it to work. As Paul has posted, it would be so nice to be able to add Navigraph Charts to the in-game toolbar menu so they can be accessed while in VR using any aircraft in MSFS. Hope this can happen one day…

Hello Paul & John!
We are actually looking into that as well. It’s still in the investigation phase, but it is definitively something that we want to achieve!

That’s excellent news Malte.
I’ve been lobbying Asobo/MS on their forum, to create a built-in virtual tablet, to simulate a pilot’s actual tablet/mobile and allow content like Charts. There’s no apparent movement on that yet, but hope springs eternal.

I second this request - it would be fantastic to be able to access the Navigraph charts; either as a drop-down menu from the top, or as a virtual kneeboard - or even just as a window off to the side somewhere.
