WT code now open source

This announcement below was posted today in the Working title discord. Not sure if navigraph devs have seen it yet but all the best with charts integration if you decide to develop it! Love your company.

Hello, @everyone! Coincident with the release of SU12, we’re excited to announce the long-awaited public update of our open source code. Systems developers can now have access to the very latest version of our avionics frameworks as used in the G3000, GNS, and WT21 projects. With this release we’ve also put effort into simplifying the developer experience, and with the help of our friends at Microsoft we now have made npm versions of every library available on npm.js. Our code is now just an npm i away from your development environment.

Due to these changes, both new and existing developers are encouraged to review our updated documentation at Hello from MSFS Avionics Frameworks and Instruments | MSFS Avionics Frameworks and Instruments, especially the revised “Setting Up Your Environment” section. The code itself is available for viewing at GitHub - microsoft/msfs-avionics-mirror: MSFS Avionics Source Code Mirror. Should you have any questions or run into problems, give us a shout in the <#925798646912516117> channel on our Discord server and someone will be around to give you a hand.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Hi,

What’s the latest on chart integration in the panel for the citations (CJ4 and longitude)? This feature will be why I subscribe!

Thanks,
John

John,

It is in closed beta testing with a pretty large group of testers. There are a few remaining issues and features to work on, but in general we are very happy with how it is progressing.

In addition to Charts integration, it also has SimBrief import functionality.

Kind regards,

Stephen

Thanks Stephen,
I’m very excited and can’t wait for the integration. Is there an page on the Navigraph website that shows the progress of the beta testing and/or will announce when the integration is released?

Thanks Again,
John

Is there a rough timeline when charts will be available Integrated in the CJ4 panel now that Working Title has released the code?

Hi John,

As above the integration is in closed beta at the moment, and we are making good progress. As soon as we have fixed a few issues, it will be released.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Cheers
Ian

Hi,

Just to clarify, the CJ4 is not possible to work on at the moment as it does not have a plugin system (yet), which WT has confirmed.

Out beta encompasses the G3000/G5000 devices.

We are in the final stages of the closed beta. We don’t publish any release dates in general, and the same goes here, but we think it is soon.

Regards,

Stephen

This also applies for the new WT787 from AAU2?

Hi,

Thank you for your interest. We have not had time to investigate it yet, but if there is a plugin system for the 787 then the possibility is there. Right now the focus is the G3000/5000 plugins and some major updates to our Charts app.

Kind regards,

Stephen
