V1 and V2 speeds generated for TBM8

I tried using the performance calculator yesterday with the TBM8, and it provided a v1 and v2 speed, despite it being a single engine airplane. While a staff member on the Discord said this was intended, I have not been able to find ANY reference online to these speeds for single engine aircraft, and I have asked in other aviation discords if anyone is familiar with this. It seems very likely this is an error.

Hi, while it’s true that V1 is often associated with an engine failure, it can also simply denote the maximum speed at which a rejected takeoff can safely be accomplished.

Takeoff can be rejected for other reasons besides an engine failure, for example instrument failure, a blown tire, etc. In most cases for a single engine aircraft, the V1 will equal VR, rendering the V1 basically moot. But it can be lower, such as on a very slippery short runway where it might take more distance to stop than to continue.

Note that different countries may define V speeds slightly differently. See also: V speeds - Wikipedia

Regarding V2, this is mostly just a result of SimBrief being tailored to airliners. In reality, many single-engine aircraft instead publish this as the target speed at 50 ft AGL. We have now updated SimBrief to replace the “V2” label with “V50FT” for single-engine aircraft, just to avoid any confusion.

Best regards,

Thank you for fixing this
