Time for historical weather with native simbrief source

Hi Navigraph Team,

I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share a feature idea that I think could really help a lot of us using SimBrief with MSFS2024.

With the latest updates in MSFS2024, the simulator now links weather directly to the in-game time. While this adds great realism, it’s causing some issues for tools like SimBrief that rely on real-time weather data. For example, if you’re based in North America but want to fly during daytime hours in Europe, SimBrief pulls the current nighttime weather for Europe. This means you might see unrealistic conditions like fog or icing at 11 AM local time, which doesn’t really match what you’d expect in real life.

It would be awesome if SimBrief could support 24-hour historical weather data. This way, we could set specific flight times without being tied to the real-time weather, ensuring that the forecasts match the actual in-game conditions we want for our flights. This feature would make flights feel more authentic and give offline simmers like me more flexibility in planning.

Obviously we’re talking about keeping 24hrs of global weather, which has a cost associated. While we’re constantly living in a cost plus, plus, plus world, having it a paid addon (reasonable of course) surly would see good uptake. While its fun and all to fly in a geographic region that is “live” to the time of day for the user, the magic of flight simulators is to fly anywhere anytime.

Thanks a lot for considering this! I’m sure many of us would really appreciate the addition of 24-hour historical weather support.
