Strange flight scheduling: What is omitted, arrival or approach?

Take a look at the screenshot for an approach and landing at EDDB.
If I only use the approach, there is first a 180° turn from the waypoint OGBER.
If I omit the approach and only use Arrival, I miss the section of XANIN to the runway.
Am I or Navigraph doing something wrong or what do you do in practice with such nonsensical combinations?

You’ve selected a STAR that takes you from OGBER to somewhere else and an approach transition that starts at OGBER. This cannot work.

You need to remove the approach transition.

Hi Tim,

i.e. if I have added the arrival OGB24L for EDDB, there is no suitable approach from XANIM?
Is that practical?

With kind regards
Kurt

There is a bit of an overlap but it works out.

More generally, many STARs don’t connect to the final approach— for example, in the US, a lot of them end in radar vectors, where air traffic control will simply guide you manually to the final approach course.
