Simbrief is generating OFPs with TOW above the allowed limit

Hi, good afternoon! How are you all?

I’ve noticed that sometimes, when generating navigation in Simbrief, it gives us a takeoff weight above the allowed limit for some airports. Depending on the situation, sometimes we arrive at our destination with a landing weight also above the permitted limit according to Simbrief’s own performance calculator (OPT).

Is there any way for you to link the information from Simbrief’s performance calculator (OPT) to Simbrief itself, so that navigation doesn’t generate a takeoff weight of 65 tons when the limit at that airport is 62 tons?

I understand that the maximum takeoff weight limit varies depending on several variables such as temperature and runway conditions, but your performance calculator can calculate that. So why not use this data all at once for users who are generating their navigation data in Simbrief? Is it possible?

Best regards and thank you!

Hello, one way of checking this is to select runway analysis/ Briefing preview then check the numbers.

Thanks!

My suggestion was that Simbrief should never generate navigation with a TOW higher than allowed for a given airport, just as happens in real life with the navigations received by pilots.
This would help automate the process and would be very useful for beginner pilots as well. I will try checking it manually as you suggested.

Thank you very much!

FPL systems don’t usually perform a check of RTOWs or landing weights. A situation where the RTOW is lower than the OFP ETOW does happen sometimes out on the line (ski flights are a good example). In this situation bags sometimes get short-shipped or passengers are denied boarding. If a destination is potentially limiting, then it’s always important to perform a dispatch landing distance calculation prior to departure.
