SimBrief ignores Cruise Level Offset

Hi,
I made a new Profile for the Beech 18. The service ceiling is 20000 ft, but the cruise alttitude is 7000-9000ft because the Beech is not pressurerized. I therefor chose the Cruise Level Offset of M9750, but SimBrief gives me a OFP with FL170 as cruise alttitude and I used the Routefinder with 9000ft and 140 Kts TAS.

Is this a Bug or am I missing something?

Hi,

Please try changing the “Ceiling” option instead. That should force it to cruise lower.

The “Cruise Level Offset” is mostly used by the altitude optimizer, which might not work as expected with lighter GA aircraft.

Best regards,

Hello,
i am using the Prosim737 Aircraft and as of the FMC Flightlevel it planned very very low, why ever.
As example, for a short flight, EDDP-EDDC the Simbrief planned Flightlevel is 150.
As of the Prosim FMC, the max Flightlevel is 101 ( ?? )

Now, because of this, i changed the Cruise Level Offset in the Simbrief Airframe to M4000.
But after regenerating the same Flightplan, the Cruise Level planned by Simbrief is still 150 ?

But this is not the Service Ceiling, which is 41000 for the B737-800NG.

Have i anything else to do to see a Effect of the change in the Airframe ?

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

In this case the cruise level is being reduced due to the shortness of the flight. The Cruise Level Offset won’t have any effect on this. And even if it did, adjusting the Cruise Level Offset for short flights like this would then cause incorrect altitudes on longer flights.

It’s hard to say why the FMC is showing such a low max altitude, but this isn’t necessarily unrealistic. In real life as well, the FMC will often show different max/optimum altitudes than what was flight planned. Especially on short flights like this.

Is the FMC simply recommending FL101, or is it refusing to accept anything higher? Personally I would be inclined to disregard it and fly a bit higher than that. The flight distance is over 100nm, FL150 should be easily attainable.

Best regards,
