Lately I’d say past month or so SimBrief is assigning runways that are not correct. For example Today (June 24, 2024) Flight from KSFO to KLAX, Sim Brief assigns runway 01L even though winds are 287 / 9kts, I checked the TAF and the direction not expected to vary for next 3 hours. This is something that has changed recently as Simbrief used to be so accurate.
Hi,
01L or 01R is the correct runway assignment when KSFO is in Westbound ops. Even though the winds might favor the 28s, most flights will depart 01s while traffic lands on 28s.
SimBrief reads runways from the real-world/VATSIM/IVAO/PilotEdge ATIS when available. As an example, the current KSFO winds favor the 28s, but the real-world ATIS reads:
SFO ATIS INFO S 1856Z.
31011KT 10SM FEW009 FEW055 20/12
A2991 (TWO NINER NINER ONE).
SIMULTANEOUS CHARTED VISUAL FLIGHT
PROCEDURES IN USE.
LNDG RWYS 28L, 28R.
DEPG RWYS 1L, 1R.
NOTAMS...
PAEW ADJ 1R AT TWY C.
BIRD ACTV IN VCY OF AP.
...ADVS YOU HAVE INFO S.
If you are flying mostly in the US, SimBrief’s runways are generally correct as there is often a real-world ATIS available. But many airports don’t necessarily use the most into-wind runways due to local procedures or traffic flow requirements.
