Questiion about Navigraph and the PMDG EFB

Hello, I am considering a subscription to Navigraph so I can access charts and updated AIRAC information. One thing I plan to use as well is the live map, so I can track my plane. I know the EFB in PMDG comes with a moving map, but it seems pretty basic. However, I am wondering with Navigraph integration whether I will get more features with that map. For example, it would be nice to be able to see the weather radar on the map or to change to a different map type.

So, if I get the subscription, will I get more features for the map on the tablet?

Hi there,

Thank you for your interest in Navigraph and for your great question!

You’re absolutely right—the moving map feature built into the most EFBs are quite basic, and while it provides real-time aircraft tracking, it doesn’t offer the full range of features that Navigraph Charts does.

With a Navigraph subscription, you’ll have access to our advanced moving map functionality across all your devices, including tablets, smartphones, and desktop computers. Here are some of the key advantages you’ll enjoy:

Multiple Map Types: Easily switch between VFR, IFR low, and IFR high enroute maps, as well as airport diagrams and approach charts.

Weather Overlays: View real-time weather data, including radar, wind, turbulence, and more, directly on your moving map

Live Traffic and ATC Sectors: See live VATSIM/IVAO traffic and ATC sector boundaries (with frequencies) for enhanced situational awareness.

Deep Zoom and Detail: Zoom in to gate level for detailed airport layouts, taxiways, and stands.

  • SimBrief Integration: Import your flight plan and visualize your route, waypoints, and procedures seamlessly.

Multi-Device Access: Use Navigraph on your tablet, phone, desktop, or via web browser—whichever is most convenient for you.

To sum up, the Navigraph moving map offers a much richer and more customizable experience than what’s currently available in most EFBs. If you’re looking for advanced features like weather overlays and different map types, a Navigraph subscription is an excellent choice.
