Problem Uninstalling Simlink from Wndows 10/FSX-Steam

I have FSX-Steam in Windows 10 and I have Navigraph Charts and FMS Data Manager. I inadvertently downloaded and installed Simlink so I uninstalled it using the Windows Control Panel. Now, when I open FSX, I get the message:

Unable to automatically launch Navigraph Simlink at
‘C/Program Files/Navigraph/Simlink/NavigraphSimlink.exe’.
Please launch manually

When I search for Simlink in Windows Explorer, I get a list of files, mostly in AppData/Roaming but I also get navigraph-simlink-win-1.0.19.1219[1].exe in AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\DG29I4RN.

I can view it only if I expose protected operating system files. Is this the problem file and, if it is, how do I safely remove it? Is there any benefit in re-installing and uninstalling Simlink?

Thank you.

Hi…,

Welcome.

Yes I would reinstall Simlink. Do you not want Moving Map in Charts?
If not, I suggest you remove Simlink as follows:

Please disable any Antivirus and Firewall.

In Simlink Plugin Settings uninstall Simlink plugin from FSX, then completely uninstall Simlink using Windows Programs and Features exactly as under .

If they exist delete directories
c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Navigraph\Simlink and c:\Program Files\Navigraph\Simlink

Thanks. That solved the problem. I still have navigraph-simlink-win-1.0.19.1219[1].exe in AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\DG29I4RN but, since it isn’t bothering me, I’ll not bother it.

Hi…,

You are welcome. Glad it is resolved.

I wouldn’t worry about a file in the IE cache, it is relatively small and benign.

Cheers
Ian
