I’m planning a flight to PADQ. There is an approach chart for ILS Y OR LOC RWY 26, but the ILS is not among the available approaches for the flight plan. Am I missing something?
Hi,
you can’t code an ILS approach where the missed approach starts prior the runway threshold, therefore it’s coded as LOC approach.
… but that doesn"t mean, that you can’t fly it as ILS approach because the GS antenna is available and included but you can only select the LOC approach.
Hope that helps
Richard
Aha, thanks for clearing that one out! I’ve never thought of that but it makes sense. Someone placed a huge mountain at the end of the runway so a missed approach before the threshold seems like a good choice
… I guess, the only one choice
There are a few such approaches worldwide, where the ILS is coded as LOC due this reason - my typical example is OLBA
Thanks again for the question and enjoy your day,
Richard
