Hello,
I have discovered missing transitions in approaches. Reported problem to Realsimgear and we troubleshooted their software and have boiled it down to Navigraph database issues. I also checked in the Navigraph Charts app and indeed these transitions were missing there as well so not a flight sim issue clearly. Here are some specifics to my installation as required..
Op System: Windows 11
FS Version: X-Plane 12
Add-on: Realsimgear Cirrus Perspective Plus Software and Torquesim SR22 G6 Aircraft
AIRAC Update No: 2503
Problem Details : Loaded various approaches in the Chicago Il area (Specifically tried the RNAV 25 at KRFD, the RNAV 27 at KARR, and the RNAV 32 at KJVL. In each case the approaches were missing some of the IAF transitions. Missing JOLNI, SMULA, and UJAVO on RKFD RNAV 24. Missing CIMKO on KARR RNAV 27. Missing WASOR and WEPAX on KJVL RNAV 32. These are just randomly chosen so appears to be a problem in the databases. Note that they do show up on route sequencing for the approaches but do not show up as “selectable” IAF transitions.
I tried looking up these same approaches outside of the flightsim (x-plane 12 in my case) using your Navigraph Charts application and indeed they are missing there as well so this does not appear to be a Realsimgear, Torquesim or X-plane 12 problem.
The data are available and included in AIRAC 2503. Is it possible that these addons don´t use this data? I don´t know. Please try it with the C172 G1000 stock aircraft to see if you get the same results or not.
I can try the stock planes once back home in front of my sim but that doesn’t fully explain why they are not even showing up in your Charts application?
Hi Scott,
IAFs are not coded as separate transitions, not at Jeppesen nor in the FAA database. They are a sub-part of the coded transitions. The G1000 (possibly also other devices) interprets these IAFs as transitions, but that’s not the “standard” and again, not coded in the data—this is a feature from the Garmin device(s).
Here, from the charts, you see the JVL transition. The JOLNI IAF is embedded and, therefore, not coded as a separate transition.
That is extremely helpful. Thank you very much for that explanation. I will verify if the IAFs are showing in the stock G1000 and if they are I will get back with the Realsimgear folks on the issue.
Thank you so much for the very fast responses to the questions. Not many teams are as fast as you these days. Much appreciated!
