Lesson 1: Introduction & Aircraft Familiarization

Here you can discuss about Lesson 1: Introduction & Aircraft Familiarization

I’ve yet to start the course, because I’m waiting for the release of MSFS 2024 on PS5. I suppose the software for tracking flight lessons is not possible on a console. Does this mean that this course is not compatible with the PS5 and Xbox versions of MSFS?

Currently, this is unfortunately the case. Navigraph does not have access to the XBox marketplace. We’re constantly on the lookout for ways to bring our products to consoles, and that does not change with this release!

Any advice for TrackIR users? Not sure if I can go to quick views after flying with TrackIR for years.

In the MSFS 2024 setup video, under realism, Andreas says to disable damage, but the “Disable damage” switches are shown off.

Hello! This is a mistake on our part. The switches should be on, so that the damage is disabled. Very confusing logic and we unfortunately missed this. We will see if we can get it corrected ASAP. /Martin

Stuff like this is inevitable. It has not affected my enthusiasm about taking this course.

I did lesson one and two. Passed both. But it still is in lesson 1 and says in progress. But the flight I did is recorded and says passed

To clarify I made to screenshots

Hi! This is a bug and I have reported it to our team. We have another report in the tech support forum on this. Follow that thread for further updates on the issue Lesson not responding

I am having trouble to have this lesson marked as complete as well. I was able to launch this lesson inside the sim (MSFS2024 SU4 beta build) and stayed inside for more than 5 minutes. After finishing the flight, my lesson 1 status is still not marked as complete after over an hour later.

Hi and thank you for the further report. We are currently investigating this. We appriciate further reports over at the teceh support thread Lesson not responding

It’s working now that I’ve updated to the latest version of the simlink.

Camera Cockpit Settings

I must be slow today, because I’m trying to change my Cockpit Camera seetings bound to my honeycomb alpha buttons/switches in MSFS24 to match what is shown on the video. However, I have been unable to find “cockpit camera” command or any other command that allows me to select a wide angle camera. So I can use some additional guidance. Typically, you can see the name of the command when tweaking action seetings in the sim, but in your video I do not see the name of the actual command you are making the selections from. Of course I am assuming the screen shown is from the Controls/Camera menu.

Again, any help you can provide will be appreciated.

From my experience so far, the camera views are just instructor recommendations and not actually tracked as variables/goals in the academy. I did set up quick looks left, right and back, but I skipped all the clearing looks in lessons so far anyway (cause it’s a sim, and I don’t have any traffic turned on and I just don’t care) and it hasn’t affected my scores at all. So the devs can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you can use what ever camera views you like during the flights, their “settings” are just a recommendation based on what you do IRL.

Hey!

The different quickviews and cockpit views are just suggestions, as PeeBee says. It is our recommendation on how to best use the views given to us by Asobo to fly the course. However, keep in mind that as you progress through the traffic pattern and navigations, it will be important to be able to look left/right for other reasons than traffic (to look at the runway, find waypoints). We will also be doing more checklists, and when doing these the Cockpit View is handy to see switches.

The keybinds are all given in the User Guide ( Navigraph Academy ) and shown on screen in the video. You must search the keybinds by their exact wording, as otherwise MSFS will not find them. For example, try searching for “Toggle Landing Cockpit” and you should find the first one.

Be aware that the settings for camera position in the standard view is very important, as you need to see the engine cowling in the correct position, to be able to learn visual nose attitudes properly.

Good luck!

/Martin

Hello, I am also having issues with the completion of this lesson.
I tried it multiple times, but still nothing

Hi Arasan! What is your issue? Is it marked as in progress?
