Hi, I noticed other messages in the forum about this missing approach. I have contacted enaire in Spain and their answer is that the permanent NOTAM doesn’t mean the approach can’t be used. In fact, it is still available in their aip and it is in use. Can you please clarify?
Hi,
as I have written in the other post, it can’t be coded as an ILS approach due the GP component, which is also mentioned in the AIP Spain.
So, it could be flyable but according the AIP the GP is not correct and this is necessary for an ILS approach. Without it, you can only code this as LOC and thats the case here.
NOTAMs are not only recommendations - they are rules, which must be followed in real even when you can fly it or when it’s possible to fly.
So, why post/announce they a notam, when it’s not be valid?
Again LOC21-Z is included due the missing GP.
Cheers
Richard
Thanks for your answer. This is not aligned at all with the feedback I got from enaire, the public organization in Spain. According to them:
"Desconocemos las razones por las que Navigraph y otros proveedores de cartas como Jeppesen han eliminado la carta ILS Z RWY 21 de LECO. Quizá ellos sean más adecuados para explicarle porqué.
Por lo que se nos ha notificado, dicha maniobra existe, está en vigor y se usa. El NOTAM que indica afecta a la funcionalidad de la instrumentación ILS en una zona concreta de la maniobra, como ocurre en muchos aeropuertos españoles y del mundo."
Translating:
"We do not know why Navigraph and other chart providers like Jeppesen have removed the LECO ILS Z RWY 21 chart. Perhaps they are better suited to explain why.
From what we have been notified, such a maneuver exists, is in force and is used. The NOTAM that it indicates affects the functionality of the ILS instrumentation in a specific area of the maneuver, as occurs in many Spanish and world airports."
Thanks, again this is a coding issue - due the GS information provider by the AIP, the GS can’t be coded and therefore it must be coded as LOC only.
That has nothing todo if it can be flown or not. There are coding rules and every provider has also additional internal rules for company quality management.
So, without a fully working GS (for ALL maneuvers), such procedures will only be coded as LOC.
Cheers
Richard
