I’m creating a profile for the BAE Hawk, but since there is no base profile, I used the HDJT profile as a starting point. (Maybe this is the problem!)
When entering data for the hawk, all OK till I enter take off thrust. If I enter the thrust rating of the RR Turbomeca Adour Mk951, which is 29kN or 6500lbF, I get an “invalid take off thrust” error.
In fact the entry box will only take values between 1400lbF to 3000lbF (or approx 6227N to 13344N).
Why can’t I enter the manufacturer’s engine thrust rating?
Hi, takeoff thrust is only used to tune the takeoff performance calculations. Entering a thrust value that is too far outside the value of the base type (HDJT) will cause weird results, so it returns an error currently.
I recommend just entering the maximum value for now (3,000). The takeoff distances might be a little conservative as a result, but otherwise it won’t negatively impact your profile.
Best regards,
Thanks for the reply, I guessed that might be the issue.
Maybe choosing a more appropriate base type will solve it!
Kind Regards
Dave
