IFR altitude too low, hitting moutain

So i’m flying a Caravan C208 which can easily reach FL 190+ – when getting a flight plan from Simbrief, I almost all the time get 7,000 feet as cruising altitude. That’s even on longer flights of 300+ nm.

In this particular flights below, that’s a big problem because that’s not enoiugh to clear mountains… i’d need at least 14,000 feet for cruising altitude.

Is there something I dont understand? some sort of airspace issue? Would love some help to understand what i’m doing wrong.

– route: KROW / KLUF (IFR)
– simbrief link: SimBrief - Dispatch

I have the same issue with the Kodiak 100. If I let Simbrief plan an altitude automatically it never goes higher than FL090/9000ft. If I want to go higher I have to set it manually myself.

I cant get an altitude above 10000 in the SR22 (Both versions). example KAPA-KHDN 10000. Definitely too low.

You guys are flying unpressurized aircraft. To fly above 10,000 you need to bring supplemental oxygen on board; by default, simBrief assumes there is no supplemental oxygen and plans accordingly-- if you want to simulate a high-altitude flight in an unpressurized aircraft, then you need to enter the desired cruise altitude manually.

As an idea, it might be possible to allow specifying “pressurized/supplemental oxygen” as a parameter to the custom airframe options? Or possibly on the flight options page somewhere.

That makes sense. Thanks for the reply!
