How to disable planned step climb?

This have been a small annoying function for a while now.

There should be a way to disable this functions permently if so choose.

I know you can save default settings, but that seems to be per leg created, not by default.

Anyway you can look into this?

Nope, Save Defaults is supposed to apply to all new flights from then on. It works for me, if I disable step climbs and use the button, then all new flights start with step climbs disabled by default.

Tim

I wouldn’t have asked if this was the case sir

Hi, I cannot reproduce this. With step climbs disabled, after clicking “Save Selections”, then clicking “New Flight”, the page loads with the option disabled.

Is this not the case for you? Are you clicking “New Flight” or are you perhaps loading your previous flight or a saved flight?

Best regards,

Hi.. I am not sure, but I believe I tested both ways. But in such case I did use “last flight” data, there should be an overall rule that states the saved setting or a rule that govern all forms.

Happen today too, I used last flight today for sure and amaned departure and arrival only.

Your last flight you edited earlier (which is now your second to last flight since you regenerated) had the stepclimbs option enabled. So it is normal when you re-load those options for it to stay enabled.

Loading your last flight or saved flight will populate the stepclimbs setting from that specific flight, it doesn’t use your default saved selections.

I still can’t reproduce this issue. I just generated a flight plan with stepclimbs disabled, then clicked to edit my last flight and the option was still disabled. I tried changing a bunch of options and it remained disabled, not sure what else to try.

Since your current last flight does have the stepclimbs option disabled, please try loading it again and let us know if you still have the issue.

Best regards,

Seems the “load last flight” automatic sets plan step climb, even though the default is stored off. See this video and see if you can reproduce it or explain why this is happening? It litterary to me seems that it tends to revert back and I have no control in permently setting this to off so it does not get enabled even on using last route i.e. for a return sector. https://youtu.be/xbd8L8yozkU

Simbrief has no built-in ability to autocomplete any fields, much less multiple fields at once. Given how it happens exactly when whatever is used to trigger the autocomplete of said fields (either your browser or some addon), I imagine it’s the same thing that seemingly flips the step climb toggle (though how/why it would do it, I have no idea).

Until this can be figured out, as a workaround, you could try using a different browser to plan with Simbrief.

Could be an autocomplete or cookie thing in Edge, will change to Chrome
